| 537724 | 2007-04-03 11:45:00 | Hi :-),Bad start - you want to be formal, do not put smileys in your first word! I am kind of low on workDon't do that either. The second you say you are low on work, they will start wondering why you are low on work. Much better to say something like "I am looking to increase my hours" or similar. and want to offer fairly competitive rates so I can get more work and get more income. They don't care. What they care about is the service you offer, and the price it comes at. Saying you offer competitive rates is a good idea though. www.digitalbuilder.co.nz ( placeholders that you have forgotten to remove - bad look for a web designer. You also didn't write the template - I found it on OSWD (http://www.oswd.org/design/information/id/2898" target="_blank">www.digitalbuilder.co.nz) Your site has 'spacer' placeholders that you have forgotten to remove - bad look for a web designer. You also didn't write the template - I found it on OSWD (http:). You do not list a phone number or address, and your business cannot be found in the white pages. That would make me think twice about hiring you. *Website building using ASP, PHP 4/5, CFMX, ASP.NET [VB.NET] Access, MySQL, MS-SQL, DFD, ERD, UCDD *Code profiling and building exportable programming code to static cache to increase speed. *Providing support for computer hardware & software, networking and Microsoft Windows 95/98/ME/ 2000/XP operating systems *Accuracy of 98.09% for alpha typing (11,520 keystrokes per hour) [Around 62WPM] and 99.6% for numeric typing (10,099 keystrokes per hour)Attaching a CV would be a better idea. I also wouldn't mention the typing stats - it looks like you're scraping the bottom of the barrel for skills to list. Anyone know of a position in a computer store on the shore for PC Support? Like Servicing? Try a more direct approach. Something more along the lines of "Do you have a vacancy for computer servicing or support in your company?" I have like 1 packet of noodles and 2 packets of mixed veges, the meal situation is looking fairly bleak :-(Definitely don't tell them this. It makes you look incompetent or lazy, and says you're desperate. [edit: I see you have removed the copyright notice from that template. Most designers look pretty poorly on that kind of bahavior; try to give credit where it's due.] |

Also emailing companies like that is spamming . . . You are best to send a real letter with your CV . Even pay someone to write it for you, if english isn't your first language . |

| 537728 | 2007-04-05 01:14:00 | = over priced :groan: Sharpen up on your language skills and it might get you some more ins. People are willing to pay for a professional service, if that is what it is. People want a no fuss solution. |

Most designers look pretty poorly on that kind of bahavior; try to give credit where it's due.] Creighton mate, as a fellow web-designer I doubt you'd appreciate it very much if company XYZ came along to the LCQ Computers website and started editing it a little, updating it, and they removed all traces of you! Bad form mate... Sounds like you could do with a bit of a sit-down with a job recruitment agency and review this self-employment business. It just doesnt seem to be working for you. |

| 537731 | 2007-04-10 00:26:00 | of viewing the 1100 Webdesigners in NZ I have found in NZ and several hundred PC Shops it is the norm to remove the labels . And No Offense Chilling silence . . . I think I saw a page in your profile? You have it seems like one page with links don't work with a relatively basic design . . . I haven't noticed any significant knowledge of program or design skills or heard you say you had any nor have you shown any . . . . I usually think a web designer is someone who works full time as a web designer, just you might say that of a truck driver . . . Now this could be because of what you get used to and well I have seen quite a few of the 1100 Web Designer pages in New Zealand claiming they are webdesigners when they have done no noted study, some have very little shown ability or ability that appears to be growing . . . YET they can say their web designers . . . Some have had maybe a mobile number link and then goes off to the gaming sites their interested in . . . A Web Designer is like a truck driver, it's a profession . Maybe you don't see it like that but I see it like that and I would probably find more people I have come across from the firms I have contacted who seemed to have expressed a little bit the same on very few occasions . Okay again people DO QUITE OFTEN take the labelling of sites . . . I am not sure how many of you there have browsed all the sites and counted them up but it is more common than not . . . . and while one of you above claims to know designers don't like this . . . I remember back awhile when I didn't like it that one my clients didn't want my label associated with him but I lived with . . I would find more people with more experience would be YOU SHOULDN'T DO THAT I heard they don't like it . . . . When you meet with web designers . . . and I have met with a few dozen now . . . and that's the ones that quite do it full time often working with others or employed or self employed . . . That the ones more in the industry or studies don't mock each other You get some people who can go on about how some piece of javascipt that does hardly anything relevant on the large scope of schemes or how important something on the majority of the site usually doesn't matter that much . I have found that before, in maybe a dozen or more posts? Not usually late teens but sometimes people in their early 20's going on about something which is quite small and focus on it and you can find it's not quite as significant as you think By the way I have also met some people that have some pretty advanced abilities, however they are more towards the rare side in NZ . . . Make up about 5-15% of the firms in NZ [I started calculating it awhile back] Okay I REALLY want to make this point clear . . . someone who comes along and highlights how something is really quite important . . . just because they think it is doesn't mean it is to the majority . And to try and make it clear again I have had contact with dozens of NZ and some overseas based web design firms don't care about how you think such and such is important but want to have a job and a life and not focus on something because you want to put others down . I would also like to note some people on here who like to mock others . . . Some media publications have suggested those that are around computers don't develop socially . . . I don't find it appealing to mock others . . . If you don't have the ability to have good social behaviour that's your incompetence and I WOULD LOVE it if you didn't waste my life and good thought space with abuse . BUT SOME of CLEVER COOKIES like to abuse others . . . and I usually am sitting their thinking how it can be offensive . . . but it more likely could actually be in a way a bit sad that it's your skill . SO some of you here and going to slag me off after this post shortly . . . because you've had some poor development in your life . . . because slagging people off is poor development [Some of you have problems comprehending this probably . Here we go then . . . I'll maybe send this post and get some bright sparks with some poor development be verbally offensive . . . . This could be maybe more a problem a predominately farming based country maybe . . . but I have no problems with farmers by the way or language like buggers . . . . loved the bugger advert . Oh and just a point I say I am Developer or part time devleoper if people ask more . . . I use figures that are real . By the way chilling silence you have jumped into this with what seems to be very little understanding of the maybe dozens of people contact with web development firms in NZ and some overseas . |
