2009-01-10 22:46:00 | You can transfer your settings, BUT, the purpose was to diagnose the slow login issue. If its quicker, then perhaps you have too many programs loading at start up for the RAM you have installed.... | SolMiester (139) | |
2009-01-10 23:20:00 | If you post a "HijackThis log" we might see what is causing the problem. | Driftwood (5551) | |
2009-01-11 02:20:00 | I just timed the login time with a stop watch, and found that the full login speed (from the time I click on the user name to the time the last startup item is fully loaded) is approximately 4 minutes for the original account (10 minutes might have been a bit of an over-exaggeration - but it seems like that when you're sitting there waiting) and only 50 seconds for the new account I just created. The new account seemed to load on all the same startup programs as the old one, with the exception of AnVir Task Manager. I got this from giveawayoftheday.com a while ago, and it has been pretty useful, mainly because of it's tray icons that give you info on your CPU and memory usage, and hard drive space, usage, and temperature. I don't know if it could cause any slowdowns though, or if there are any better freeware alternatives to it. And as I said before, I have 2GB of RAM, and my memory usage hardly ever goes past 40%, so I doubt that's the problem.

2009-01-12 11:00:00 | I am just about to do as Speedy Gonzales said, and delete those entries in HJT, but I am unsure about the HP Digital Imaging Monitor. Will I still be able to print properly without it? And what should I do about AnVir? | samnorr (13776) | |
2009-01-12 12:22:00 | Sometimes you can get problems with Hibernation/Standby with video cards because of something the VGA or System BIOS is doing (or not doing) Try checking options like video BIOS shadowing and refresh VGA BIOS on standby resume, might help
