| 537881 | 2007-04-03 08:28:00 | There may have been some rationalization of the registered domain names. For multiple names to be translated to the same IP address, the DNS servers have to know all of them, explicitly. Obviously the domain name which appears in the "Address" line when you navigate around the site is the preferred one (that's what is programmed into the system). That is "forums.pcworld.co.nz". I've just tried again the one I am used to typing in: "pressf1.co.nz", and it is not found by the DNS lookup. Unfortunately, the "PRESSF1 FORUM" Button in the top button line of the PC World home page tries to send you to "pressf1.co.nz". :( Consistency is a Good Thing. |

| 537888 | 2007-04-04 03:12:00 | Yup - our domains it seems are actually managed (in the sense of registrations and renewals) by IDG in the US. And someone over there seems to have made a unilateral decision that this pressf1.conz thing is something that doesn't need renewing.:( They have been emailed and enlightened as to the inconvenience of this piece of decision making. In the meantime, use the pressf1.pcworld.co.nz url. Jim is goign through and changing any pressf1.co.nz links in menus etc. Gggrrrr. |
