| 537713 | 2007-04-02 22:17:00 | That might be a good approach if you're looking for a job as a door-to-door salesman. But it's unproffessional rocking in off the street, and it's also a most unproductive way of doing it. To show initiative would be to draft a letter of interest, enclose a CV and mail it to prospective employers, followed up with a phone call within a week. Surely doing either would be better then living off our taxes, Better to be a shovel hand then unemployed. Hell, I moved to Aussie, Had no car, Knew nobody, Had no idea where the hell I was never mind where anything else was, I got a job because I went out and got one....I would have starved to death if I thought I could just mail out some paper and sit on my backside. |

Turning up in person shows them you're motivated. |

| 537716 | 2007-04-02 23:04:00 | Move to ChCh, there was a good PC job advertised in the paper last week. Would have gone for it myself if I had been able to fulfill all the necessary attributes required. As for job sites, a family member has had four interviews and at least one job offer in the past week from adverts on Job Seek I think it was. Is waiting to hear back from two of them, including the one preferred. Not IT jobs though. |

| 537719 | 2007-04-03 01:38:00 | Move to ChCh, Mmm. Now if I did that. It would cost another $120,000 for a house, an then the moving costs, layers fees, etc. All to start all over again. |
