737078 2009-01-10 20:12:00 What firewall just the Vista one or an after market one? When I rebuilt this one the Atheros NIC on the new Asus mobo wouldn't work with Comodo gary67 (56)

737080 2009-01-10 20:17:00 Well first you have to install the NIC drivers. Did you do this? Speedy Gonzales (78)

737084 2009-01-10 20:39:00 Nah still nothing....any other idea's?? mark1978 (13845)
737085 2009-01-10 20:40:00 Well thats the first thing you HAVE to do. After you reformat, install the chipset drivers, NIC / Sound / whatever

No NIC drivers you go nowhere. Go into the NIC's properties / TCP / IP give it an IP, and the gateway the ip of the router. If you have one.

Then put in your ISP's DNS server ips under it. I dont know where this is in Vista

Did you get the NIC drivers from the mobo manufacturer's site. Not from any site??

737086 2009-01-10 22:49:00 Ah, the joys of Windows Vista's 'new stream lined network set-up page’.
To get to the network settings page:

Open control panel (Hit the classic view button, makes it a lot easier)

Click the network and sharing icon.

On this page there is a panel on the left hand side, click the "Manage network Connections" link, and here’s the network setting page, just like in XP
