736766 2009-01-09 16:52:00 Alright, i'm pretty new to the forums here but I hope you all can help me out .

I keep receiving the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) whenever i began any software larger than 2 gigs . The error is reported as IRQL is equal or less than and also states something involving cmpdx . sys .

I'm currently running Windows XP x64 SP2 and it's running on a AMD athlon(tm) 64 x2 Dual Core Processor 4200+, 2 . 21GHz, and 4 gigs of DDR2 RAM . My graphics card is a NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GTS and the motherboard is a NF4 SLI M2 .

Any help would be greatly appreciated .

736767 2009-01-09 18:46:00 Began software? What does that mean?

The IRQL error most of the time indicates a problem with a driver.
Occasionally it can be a faulty RAM problem.

That .sys file is not a legit windows file. Run a malware scan.

736768 2009-01-09 19:03:00 Sorry, I just got the BSOD again and it's not the above .sys file, its cmudaxp.sys

And I only get the BSOD when I try and began WoW, but because it's such a huge program, I know it's related somehow.

736769 2009-01-09 19:15:00 It looks like that file belongs to your soundcard driivers

Are you using onboard sound or did you install another soundcard?

Where did you install the soundcard drivers from?

736770 2009-01-10 02:14:00 I have a Barricuda sound card and i've had it installed for about 6 months with no problems. drakoni (14504)
736771 2009-01-10 02:17:00 If theres an onboard soundcard, disable it in the BIOS Speedy Gonzales (78)
736772 2009-01-10 03:24:00 I have a Barricuda sound card and i've had it installed for about 6 months with no problems.

But now you have.
Windows updates can overwrite drivers sometimes.
It won't hurt to download the latest driver for your card from the manufacturers site and install it.

736773 2009-01-10 07:16:00 I just downloaded the latest driver from Razer . (It's a Barracuda AC-1 . ) I also went into the driver manager and disabled the onboard sound driver .

I seem to still be getting the same BSOD . Something else interesting to note, if I start up WoW as soon as the computer boots up, I usually have a 50/50 shot of getting it up and running, then I have no more issues . However, if I let the computer go through the entire startup process and I go to start up WoW, then I'll get the BSOD .

736774 2009-01-10 07:17:00 Disable the onboard sound in the BIOS not in windows

What file is it showing in the BSOD now?? The same file?

736775 2009-01-10 08:12:00 Yes its the same IRQL is less than or equal to and it points towards the cmudaxp.sys file, same as before. drakoni (14504)
