737842 2009-01-12 07:08:00 I have got this Asus laptop running XP that shuts down randomly, even after 2 seconds, sometimes I have to keep restarting it just to get it to boot, I have tried running Barts PE and it still shuts down, leaving me to think it’s not software related, it’s doing it more and more, So I’m wondering if it could be an overheating problem.

I don't think its a BSOD or critical system error.

When I first turned it on it ran for about 40min, now it won’t stay on longer than 60 seconds, Its around 3 years old, battery is still good and it does it whether it’s plugged in or running on just battery power...

Your thoughts please. Thanks

737844 2009-01-12 07:34:00 True, Of course, didn't even think of that, Thats what I normally try when I have this issue with a desktop, didn't even think of it.

Thanks

737848 2009-01-12 22:54:00 Yeah, first time I ran it it ran for a while, then just kees shutting off, haven't tried running it in the morning, I'm guessing an overheating issue, Not keen to oen it u and check, have had nightmares with keyboard ribbons and the like in the past. radium (8645)
737849 2009-01-13 04:22:00 Still under Warranty?

Many laptops start having these kinda issues around summer ...

Well, more-so than Winter at least.
