737678 2009-01-12 06:08:00 Hi, my friends are having trouble with bandwidth control with 4 pc connected to a telecom thompson router. I have a spare PC with 1 NIC which I would like to use as a gateway and installed softperfect bandwidth monitor. does anyone know how to setup this software to work as a gateway.

thanks

www.desksoft.com

Highly recommend it!

737680 2009-01-12 10:09:00 It would be easier to get the Asus WL-520GU or Asus WL-520GC and install tomato/DD-WRT software on it. Its has an inbuilt bandwidth monitor

Edit:Hey Chill that BWMeter looks pretty good:thumbs:

737681 2009-01-12 19:40:00 Where does DD-WRT tell you the traffic-types that is passing through it? Ive never seen that, but perhaps Ive just missed it.. wouldnt surprise me if I had ;)

Yeah BWMeter is great, seriously reviewed about 15 of the darn things about 9 months ago :(

They've just put out a new version lately, and have support for 64-bit now too :)

I've forgotten where the bandwidth meter is-I've changed to tomato for a year now, but I'm pretty sure DD-WRT has it.

737684 2009-01-13 04:21:00 Screenshot of it in Tomato ?

I just checked again, still not in there ...
Might be because Im using the -micro, -mini or -vpn builds on all mine. The routers arent big enough for the -mega builds

737685 2009-01-13 22:44:00 Yeah, I don't think its on those builds.

I got the same router as you I think, I have 3 WL-520GUs, 2 as repeaters.

I use the standard build.

Here's that screenshot:

Chill, do you have to use a gateway with that software or does it only work locally and you have to check figures on each pc that accessing your router....

Does that Tomato run on WAG200G's?
