540089 2007-04-11 07:51:00 Hi Guys

As you know the govt is ordering Telecom to split into operational divisions.

There were going to be two divisions, Wholesale and Retail.

Now David Cunnliffe has announced he wants 3 divisions !
Network
Wholesale
Retail

I think this is brilliant news as the new network divisions will just have to focus on providing a good network.

What do you think ?

Telecom have got 4 weeks to submit a response ! and so do we the public !

540090 2007-04-11 08:07:00 Telecom ? Good network?
Sorry, but these two phrases clash as if they had nothing in common. Somebody is asking miracles here, it is almost as laughable as asking Telecom if they are telling the truth.
Nevertheless, good luck to all.

540091 2007-04-11 09:47:00 Doesnt matter if it splits into 100 divisions as long as they keep delaying spending much needed capital expenditure on their network. beeswax34 (63)

Seperating it into more than two divisions is going to create a lot more buracracy, and more people clipping the ticket.

Each division will need it's own CEO, who will need to be paid millions, tif they want someone up to an international standard.

It is always dangerous to have government intervention in a private company. I don't think we are going to be getting cheaper broadband anytime soon, if the government keeps stuffing up and changing the rules, which is only going to delay things.
