538714 2007-04-07 01:13:00 Hey guys, just letting you know I got a new server for telescum and now it back with a real CMS that works :D

I'm also looking for people that want to help with putting stories and sstuff on there... but sane people.. I'm looking at metla, billy t, chill, and mods.

If you wanna to help out it would be much appreciated. Telecom are still dragging their heels with this unbundling thing, not to metnion the incredibly crappy speeds.

Cheers guys, and happy easter :)

538715 2007-04-07 01:26:00 I'd do it, but I'm totally happy with my service provider.

No offence intended Hamstar, but by naming 'prefered' names you've screwed your chances with the rest of the population

Then learn to spell.

Then apologise to the persons named for the inference they might want to be involved in your preschool activities.

538719 2007-04-07 07:09:00 Excuse me, but how is protesting the monopolisation and privatisation of an integral public infrastructure preschool and childish?

At least I'm not sitting back on my @$$ and letting them get away with their crimes, I'm doing something about it.

You don't have to put up with this crappy connection they call broadband.

Scape... err, maybe that should be landscape.

Well, I think you are wasting your time. This is because they are being unbundled and their operations are already being seperated.
There are lots of monolopolies that could deserve your attention more than telecom. How about Vodafone and Telstra (which unlike Telecom which is laregly owned by NZ shareholders, are overseas companies). Petrol companies who give the illusion of competition, ACC, NZs power companies, Transpower, the list goes on.

You allege that they are 'dragging their heels with this unbundling thing', which couldn't be further from the truth. Unbundling was always going to take time, and if you had bothered to read the unbundling document released last year, you will see that there is a timeline, and it was going to take a few years to take full affect. It was never going to occur overnight.

"privatisation of an integral public infrastructure"

Privatisation was done nearly 20 years ago . NZers (unless you are a telecom shareholder) no longer own it . Telecom are a business not a public service . Their sole intention is to make money for their shareholders .

Personally I am happy with my broadband connection . I am connected to telecoms network via another ISP, and get very good speeds .

Really you should be putting your efforts into blaming and lobbying the Labour government who sold telecom . Get them to invest some of those billions they were going to spend on a national stadium, into setting up a combination of a fibre and wifi alternative network throughout the entire country . That way we wouldn't need to rely on a private company for our broadband .

538722 2007-04-07 10:03:00 I'm amazed you would ask Billy T for input, Given half a chance he would smite your site from the internet with a single fury laden blow.

As for me, Im fine with the concept, its as worthwhile as anybody elses effort, But I'm not in the bizzo of writing articles for other peoples sites, hell, I have enough dead sites of my own, when was the last time anything was published over at www.risingpower.com ?

If you want cheap easy content then just quote a paragraph of news articles published elsewhere about Telecom, list the source, and then write a short and hard hitting comment about why this latest effort is once again a disgrace and reason to sting em high.

Instant Web site.

Hell, even leave an area for viewers to post comment if you get enough hits, Im pretty sure there is some tacky NZ site related to IT following this exact format, Just with a giant lame factor built in.

538723 2007-04-07 10:12:00 Oh yeah, Personally I was happy with my broadband connection, The speed was fine, The price and Data cap however were not, and these are artificial money squeezing tools devised and implemented by Telecom, Nor was I happy with the eight years it took to get the speed restriction lifted, Nor with there constant lies about network investment only to find that in the cold light of day there Network was still incapable of supporting the service they were selling.

Multiply that with the attitude of theres that fair use equals abuse and we have a right little party going on.

Scum bags, No one else would get away with it.

I don't care about the Unbundling or any other such rot, The government should just set a reasonable garenteed speed and price, and if Telecom cant or wont supply it, Then pass legislation banning Telecom from providing Internet Services, Then spend a few of our billion laying optic cable in our main centers, Satilte services for our sparsely populated areas, and the provincial towns cant survive on a well priced ADSL service.

That, and we should drug the Telecom executives, strip them naked and make them have group sex in a public place.

And we could get Theresa drunk and gift her to some boof head pigs....uh...I mean policemen.
