738105 2009-01-13 05:49:00 I must be one of the few that does not have a problem with my ISP. (Xtra) Sweep (90)
738106 2009-01-13 07:59:00 The last time I spoke to Xtra helpdesk it took 2 days to get sorted. I told them the port in the cabinet down the road was faulty, after talking to 3 different people, going through the normal "please click here and there", they couldn't even understand that I was already logged into the modem and had to let them explain how to do it just to please them. Finally got a NZ person who sent a tech out and found the port faulty! berryb (99)
738107 2009-01-13 11:51:00 The paper today reports they were so happy with their call centre "trial" in Manila they going to sack the rest of the NZers and move it all there.

But don't worry, they get 2 weeks of Conversational English lessons before assisting you with your technical and other problems.
Having spoken with a few people in Manila with a problem, have found them pleasant and helpful however understanding difficulties have made the process a lot longer than you would anticipate. :groan:

However, the speed I am getting is nothing to be sneezed at

Download Speed: 4246 kbps (530.8 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 135 kbps (16.9 KB/sec transfer rate)

738108 2009-01-13 22:22:00 Perhaps what would be interesting would be to survey people who have changed from XTRA and ask them if they are pleased with their new ISP Billy (6701)
738109 2009-01-13 22:32:00 Some people are never satisfied and are forever changing. Maybe you should ask people who have changed back to Telecom what they think having seen what else is out there (Xtra doesn't really exist now). PaulD (232)
738110 2009-01-14 01:54:00 I'm still happy :D with Xtra. Did a quick d/l speed test an hour ago : 6550 kbps

Yes - Clear, Orcon, Tasman Solutions. All excellent.

It's improved. International speeds are still deadly slow though, youtube is a joke. National traffic though, is fine. Now they have changed their plans they are almost competitive.

I'll put myself on that list as well. Though for some others not far away it is a different story.

738113 2009-01-14 08:26:00 Moved from Xnet and am very satisfied.

Wratterus, if you have slow International speeds you should ask why. At the moment LA is 4765kbps and this is normal. YT is fantastic.
