539611 2007-04-10 05:12:00 Hopefully one of our smart NZ animals will make it into the British media to offset it.

I've heard we have a petting zoo in Wellington. Apparently they film the animals while they are preening and posturing

539613 2007-04-10 05:15:00 Actually, I have been reading quite a few overseas news sites like the Beeb recently (I know... it's the school hols and I'm bored!).

I have observed that a number of our NZ 'newspapers' have been popping up with stories that were already around overseas at least 2 days previously... it's almost a time warp. Of more concern is that stories are regurgitated almost word for word- cheap journalism I say.

Well some of that is not "regurgitation" but licensing - half the stuff comes from REUTERS and the Herald uses lots of stuff from The Independant.

You mean they licence a story about a pussy catching the No.9 bus? :horrified

Now that's preferable to a Pommie cat.

They may do

Let's wait and see. I bet you anything that if some English TV crew has done a piece on it it will turn up on our TV news. After all, the public's right to know takes precadence over other concerns ....

539618 2007-04-10 05:37:00 I mean this is the World news on the Herald today:

Chinese official fired for having too many kids - Reuters

East Timor poll results likely out tomorrow - Reuters

Howard sends 300 special forces troops to Afghanistan - AAP (Australian Associated Press)

Tourist docks with space station - Reuters

UK police arrest third suspect over teen's death - Reuters

Big Brother creeps into British schools - Independant

etc etc

None of those stories are exclusive to the Herald, so you'll see the same story on sites all around the world.

539619 2007-04-10 05:44:00 And then again, the Herald is already running this story from Reuters: :)

I'm very fond of Southland, Shortcircuit.

But last time I looked, the Dunedin & Central Otago below my name were both still in Otago.

(Mutters ....bombay hills & j afas & taxi drivers who don't know where they're going...)
