540064 2007-04-11 06:01:00 For those who have been waiting for this to happen... Debian Etch has finally knocked Sarge off its perch (www.us.debian.org), and is now officially the stable version. Erayd (23)
540065 2007-04-11 09:35:00 OK, maybe this Etch needs to be scratched. Copyleft, here I come ;) R2x1 (4628)

540067 2007-04-11 12:03:00 Well, I ain't gonna download a DVD's worth - with a vodem the *&$@#! usage charges  would make my ISP bill higher than the cost of a much coveted Doominator with Radials and digital strobe tail lights. Easier (and much cheaper) to send some coin to Dunedin.Slower, but wiser.
2 GB a month, cheap as chips.
4.5GB - mortgage broker needed.
Don't tell me 1 CD is plenty - plenty is NEVER enough.

540068 2007-04-11 12:38:00 R2x1: Download the 'businesscard' or 'netinst' iso, they're about 35MB and 150MB respectively. They just download the stuff during the install, so you only download what's actually on the system - not all the useless stuff that you'll never use.

Noting you have a vodem, you may need to install it on someone's DSL/Cable connection, as the vodem won't be supported during the installation.

540069 2007-04-12 04:04:00 Bletch - Thanks, but the DVD arrives tomorrow - :D
Whaddaya mean useless? I only install vital stuff, (or anything I can get wedged in)
And ADSL around here is a competitor for semaphore regarding speed achieved ;)
And now, I see that my hand has stopped shaking, so it is obviously time for more coffee.
