738845 2009-01-15 03:16:00 I bought my partner "Quantum of Solice" for Christmas, I don't know too much about computers so thought a game is a game.. He tried installing it on his laptop (Compaq Presario, not sure of exact model) which it installed no problems, but when he went to play it, it came up with a error message that had something to do with 64-bit, his system is only a 32-bit, I tried taking it back to the shop explaining what the problem was, but they don't accept refunds on games because of piracy issues. I thought that maybe he could just update his system (CPU?) to 64-bit, but wondering if that is possible?

As i said, I don't know alot about computers so didn't think to look at the specs beforehand! My own fault.

738846 2009-01-15 03:24:00 Not easily, it requiers the purchase of a 64-bit OS, and then you re-install it from scratch sorry :-/ Chilling_Silence (9)
738847 2009-01-15 03:24:00 Unless the system (the mobo and CPU are 64 bit), the 64 bit version of windows wont install.

Either from a clean install, or from within windows (on a 32 bit system)

You can't "update" a system to 64bit.
First of all you must have the hardware that supports 64bit.
Then you need to install a 64bit OS.

The game may have been 64bit only, but I highly doubt it.
Can you give us the exact wording of the error or can you do a print screen?

Once you've done a print screen paste it into paint and save as a jpeg file.
Then, when you reply the post here, under Additional options, Click Manage Attachments and upload the jpeg file you saved.

738849 2009-01-15 03:27:00 Given it is a laptop, you won't be able to upgrade the CPU. maccrazy (6741)
738850 2009-01-15 03:34:00 What game needs a 64-bit OS? I mean Crysis I could understand due to its hardware requirements but even that runs on 32-bit systems. beeswax34 (63)
738851 2009-01-15 03:35:00 I'll reinstall it again then do a screenshot. smudge (13752)

Quite wrong actually, it is possible on some laptops, not all though.
Then again buying a laptop would be cheaper than upgrading the CPU

738853 2009-01-15 05:25:00 I reinstalled it, I clicked the autorun then play, and it worked, I exited it and tried it again, this time it doesn't do anything, no error message and no game.

The laptop is a compaq presario C700, someone on trade me says the game won't work on this laptop, but half the time i don't know whether they're being serious or not, the comment was"

"You need atleast a p4 processor at 2.4ghz. The c700 has a Celeron at 2.13ghz. And the intergrated x3100 isnt going to cut it either. In a nutshell. You cant run it on that laptop and its not possible to upgrade that laptop to be able to run it"
