541994 2007-04-18 00:50:00 News story here ( . sky . com/skynews/article/0,,30000-1260742,00 . html" target="_blank">news . sky . com) .

Bizarre .

But obviously someone is not only thinking about making a buck, but protecting kids (IMHO probably more about exploiting a perceived risk) .

Also bizarre: that some shopping malls (here in NZ as well as overseas) ban the wearing of hoodies inside the malls anyway . . . Do they scan for knives as people enter??? Otherwise these at-risk (allegedly) kids will only be safe wearing this new product outside a mall .

Or they could stay at home or alternatively, mix with a better class of kid . . .

The arms race continues - fists/feets to knives to guns to ????

541995 2007-04-18 01:41:00 Ludicrous. It is smacking that is to be prohibited.
Skewering the little sods on whatever implement comes to hand is not mentioned (presumably it is permitted and possibly could be made compulsory for a few notable examples). Hoodie wearing would make a convenient candidate selection filter.
However, if the hood were soundproof as well as closed off completely at the front, and the sleeves could be tightly laced together, the garment would fill a social need. ;)

541996 2007-04-18 05:18:00 the garment would fill a social need. ..."urgent, important and ongoing social need".

However, if we go far enough back in the development cycle, most of these hoodie-wearing miscreants would have been prevented by the simple wearing of a condom at the appropriate moment...

Some, however, do get through those awkward years to become relatively productive members of society...

541998 2007-04-18 11:03:00 ...when the stolen Mercedes car he was driving crashed into a Toyota RAV 4, killing two of the Mercedes passengers and seriously injuring another, and badly injuring the RAV 4 driver.

now you'd think the mercedes would have come out better off than the rav4 wouldn't you?

quite sad that there are people out there who feel the need to do these things, i but he'll suddenly stop when he reaches 18 - he'll either be in prison or stop once there is a real consequence for his actions
