2007-04-17 07:40:00 | Love it. But the problem would be that I would want to drive her car to play with the radar detector. Or could it be transferred easily? Yes, AFAIK they just plug into the 12VDC outlet and with a sucktion cup stick onto the front windsheild NOTE: I have never actually had a radar though... don't get me started i'll be on this all night ! yeah well thats why then. you watch auckland traffic, first its 55km/h, then 60, then 65, then 70......right past a school. noone seems to give a toss. about time they started getting harder on them. He he he, aww, why not? :stare: I was with a guy who had just moved down from Auckland and he said they always do 60kph in a 50 zone and he was getting annoyed at the person in front doing 55kph... On a note to anyone who gets pulled over by a cop for speeding, ALWAYS ask to see the proof on the radar of the speed  I wonder if they pull mountain bikes over, if so I may get into trouble around here :horrified pctek - it is fine to slow down to the conditions, I don't have a problem with that, I do it too, but the people I am refering to are in normal conditions (just saying) EDIT: just talking to my Mum about this thread (LOL) and she told me about the road works going up to Paraparaumu and the speed signs were ranging from 30kph to 70kph in a short distance apart... (100m or so she says) and even on one of them there was a 50kph sign on one side of the road and a 30kph sign on the other side of the road :badpc:

2007-04-17 08:01:00 | errrrrrrr........... then again a good friend of mine got a $70 fine for doing 51km\ in a 50km\h zone i'd be very suprised if that was indeed true......they cant prove your speed with that much accuracy .......there are too many potential factors involved not the least that speedos are not THAT accurate.........

2007-04-17 08:10:00 | To be pinged for doing 51kp/h and fined $70 would mean your mate was probably driving within an area that had a 30km/h temp speed limit Just an observation, it may be wrong

2007-04-17 08:15:00 | mind you speaking of speeding tickets..... one thing i've noticed a lot more lately...... people don't read signs. we have a small town nearby with a 70km/h limit (a wide straight road). do you think jaffas do 70km/h through it? no, they do 50-60km/h through it. if there is a cop there they will drop straight to 50. you can certainly tell who actually reads the signs. same where i live, the road used to be 100kph, now it's 70 like all the roads adjoining it. still the locals do 100, and everyone else 50. it drives us nuts, especially as people still seem to crash, even on the straights - 90% of the time they're either females (seriously) travelling 30 to 70kph or males at 120kph minimum (lol). the council refuses to put crash barriers up despite us having to constantly repair our fences. as for 10kph speeding tickets SPEED CAMERAS, like on poles or vans cannot get you for less that 10kph over (afaik). also they can't fine you if there's another car in the photo, and cannot result in demerit points

2007-04-17 08:23:00 | Do what this mother did www.stuff.co.nz ok, i just read that. i don't blame the kid. his mum should have sold it and given him the money to buy a **** (or slow) car, or let him get the taken from him by the police (seeing as he was already up on driving) charges. he's unemployed and probably financially crippled now his major asset has been destroyed, and without a car to get to any prospective jobs i know i'd be mighty pissed.

2007-04-17 10:16:00 | It's not that bad. The Judge effectively gave him $2000 for the car and I don't think he's likely to be missing out on many job offers with an attitude like that. | PaulD (232) | |
2007-04-17 10:50:00 | If you want her to stop speeding ... tape all those ads that have children dying or people who can no longer move or are in wheelchairs or those ads where mothers are standing in the streets screaming cause her little kid gets hit by a speeding driver, make it good and long and then get her to sit down and watch it over and over and over and over and over again. If that doesn't work take her to any one of the main hospitals, im sure you will find a few victims of someone that had crashed or caused a crash due to speeding. Well worth the try :D ... I mean think of all that money ..... :stare: | never-u-mind (6500) | |
2007-04-17 11:05:00 | Just lucky no-one ever smacked that kid. He could have turned out to be antisocial if he had ever been smacked. | R2x1 (4628) | |
2007-04-17 12:16:00 | Geez Steve! Simply ask her to slow down . She has a mind???? People who get caught speeding are a small percentage of the people who die and kill of the percentage who don't get caught . If you/she want to drive fast . . . It's easy to have a speed buzz and throw the car around legally in the right places .
