541684 2007-04-17 06:06:00 10km/h over what limit? more likly she was well above the limit and 10km over was what she dropped to before they registered it or she was doing 60 in a 50zone etc.

i was always on the impression that you never got done for 10% over the speed limit due to the fact your cars speedo can be 10% out. most car manafactures only guarantee 10% accuracy and that only applies to when you are useing the orignal tire size not the size your actually useing.I recently got pinged doing 60 km/h in a 50 zone. Granted I was near a school, but the time was 7:40am
So yes you can get done for only 10 k over

541685 2007-04-17 06:07:00 Puncture two tyres ("tires" in SJ-speak), water in fuel (just a tiny amount to make it run rough), attach something real rattly to the underneath of the car - the faster she goes the more embarassing noise, microswitch on the speedo connected to the horn to trigger at a certain speed, automatic parachute deployment at a certain speed...

How imaginative do you want to be? :p

 Johcar, I like your suggestions!

I want to read these comments to her, to show what a creative funny group we are. :D ... and not to tick her off but to make her be more aware when driving.

541686 2007-04-17 06:10:00 Tell her to buy a radar detector and then it will pay for its self after a few alerts :D :p

 Love it. But the problem would be that I would want to drive her car to play with the radar detector. Or could it be transferred easily?

Paul D: "Put one of those thermometer type billboards on the front lawn showing how much the fines have been " ... now why didn't I think of that? :)

541687 2007-04-17 06:12:00 Take the car away from her. Or threaten her with no shoes for a month.

Nah, its her car, and if I did then I would have to drive her or she would use my car.

BTW folks, she pays for everything so no skin off my nose, just annoyed that $$ going down the drain.

541688 2007-04-17 06:13:00 Tell her if she goes the same period of time without getting another one, you'll buy her a new HD, thumb drive, mp3 player, etc. from the saving in fines

Wouldn't work - she doesn't even know what those things are, much less her using and enjoying them. Thanks for the try...

541689 2007-04-17 06:16:00 so thay CAN ping you for being 10km\h over the limit?

She got pinged this week for going 62 in a 50 zone .

Its always around 10 - 15 kph over .

How does one check the points total, and how many do you get for speeding each time, and losing the license?
Strommer (42)
541690 2007-04-17 06:32:00 Demerit points are here:
www.police.govt.nz

Looks like she now has 60 points, licence will go at 100 (not over 100, but at 100). Points expire after 2 years.

That means the second one from now = no license at that rate. But that would fix the issue for a while.

I bought a radar detect 10 years ago when caught at 142 km/h in a 100 km/h zone (60 demerit points then). Never been caught since...

There are no demerit points for speed camera tickets.

541692 2007-04-17 06:41:00 Yeah, it is REALLY annoying . . . and people who do 80-90kph in a 100kph zone then when a passing lane comes, speed up to 110kph :badpc: I just drop a gear and boot it :p

And another thing that causes crashes . . . the number of people who cross the centre line around corners even blind corners and most of them are the ones that go below the speed limit :waughh: Sheesh, if you can't stay in the lines . . . keep off the road, thats my thoughts . . . don't get me started i'll be on this all night !

She got pinged this week for going 62 in a 50 zone .
yeah well thats why then . you watch auckland traffic, first its 55km/h, then 60, then 65, then 70 . . . . . . right past a school . noone seems to give a toss . about time they started getting harder on them .

541693 2007-04-17 07:24:00 one thing i've noticed a lot more lately . . . . . . people don't read signs . we have a small town nearby with a 70km/h limit (a wide straight road) . do you think jaffas do 70km/h through it? no, they do 50-60km/h through it .

How nice . Here they do 120 . In the 100k zone, the 80k zone, the 70k zone .

I slow down .
Lucky I do too, some ******* came out of a side road and round the front of me all at 120 . This in the 80k zone . I braked hard, and obviously missed him but I probably wouldn't have if I had still been at 100 .

And in frosty weather I have been known to do 80 in the 100k zone, sorry I dont care, when theres ice all over the road and hurricanes blowing I would rather be cautious .
I let the fast immortals pass me whenever they like .
