2007-04-17 04:17:00 | Sometimes, here in the US...if you have a good attitude, the cop will maybe only cite you (if he even does this at all) for 10mph over the limit as a good PR thing. If he actually wrote you for the REAL speed, then he has to tow the car away or write a lot of paper forms and they don't like things to get in the way of their donuts and free coffee appointment at the nearest Winchell's (http://www.winchells.com/). I got a ticket once for 26mph in a 25mph zone, and the judge threw it out! :o That was my LAST speeding ticket...April, 1964

2007-04-17 04:25:00 | mind you speaking of speeding tickets..... one thing i've noticed a lot more lately...... people don't read signs. we have a small town nearby with a 70km/h limit (a wide straight road). do you think jaffas do 70km/h through it? no, they do 50-60km/h through it. if there is a cop there they will drop straight to 50. you can certainly tell who actually reads the signs.

2007-04-17 04:32:00 | to paulD: nope the cop actually clocked him on his radar @ 51km\h and fined him for it  maybe he was lonely and pinged him so he could talk to someone? or maybe he needed one more fine to meet his revenue quota so he could go home :p

2007-04-17 05:26:00 | Tell her to buy a radar detector and then it will pay for its self after a few alerts :D :p There are people who do 60kph in a 80kph zone, there are THREE signs telling them that it is an 80kph zone... but when they come to the 50kph zone, what do they do? keep on plugging at 60kph... :badpc: I have noticed that my speedo is out by 2kph (measured with GPS) hmm, maybe thier speedos are selective speeds? James, do you have a car or licence? You will probably find out why people speed soon enough once you got it :p also, what was telling SJ about the days?

2007-04-17 05:33:00 | i have a radar detector in my car - and it works a treat :D it will actually yell at me "COP!! COP!!" and make a bunch of loud beeps when a cop has his radar on and is in range but then again petrol stations, electric doors of any kind and even some wireless Access Point's tend to set it off :annoyed:

2007-04-17 05:41:00 | 3rd one in recent months. :waughh: What should I do? :dogeye: Always around 10 kph over. Doesn't seem to learn. Instead of the fines I could've bought a new HD, thumb drive, mp3 player, etc. Help !Puncture two tyres ("tires" in SJ-speak), water in fuel (just a tiny amount to make it run rough), attach something real rattly to the underneath of the car - the faster she goes the more embarassing noise, microswitch on the speedo connected to the horn to trigger at a certain speed, automatic parachute deployment at a certain speed... How imaginative do you want to be? :p But I suppose you're after PRACTICAL suggestions... :) Then probably SKT174's suggestion - make her pay the fines herself...

2007-04-17 06:05:00 | thats usually what we get around here.....70km/h in a 100zone, 70km/h in a 70zone, then 70km/h in a 50zone. cops don't need quotas around here :( (and people wonder why they crash and die regularly around here). Yeah, it is REALLY annoying... and people who do 80-90kph in a 100kph zone then when a passing lane comes, speed up to 110kph :badpc: I just drop a gear and boot it :p And another thing that causes crashes... the number of people who cross the centre line around corners even blind corners and most of them are the ones that go below the speed limit :waughh: Sheesh, if you can't stay in the lines... keep off the road, thats my thoughts...
