I tried it on unused frequencies at both ends of the FM band using a Technics tuner-amp connected to my internal distribution system . Despite being no more than 4 metres from my external antenna system (with masthead preamp) it was unable to produce a signal . I then tried with a rabbit ears aerial connected direct to the tuner . This got all available stations at good strength but the Belkin struggled to put a clean signal in from more than 3 metres away . Even then it depended on how you held it, and if you coil up the excess lead as suggested, the range dropped significantly . It draws 35mA in operation which works out at around 100mW, of which I suspect significantly less than 5mW appears as RF . No point in thinking abour field strength meters, there wasn't any of either, field or strength . Either this unit is stuffed, or the model is useless . So, it's back to DSE for replacement/refund . Cheers Billy 8-{) |
