| 740077 | 2009-01-18 16:44:00 | Hello guys, i got an Asus P4s800 as motherboard and i want to upgrade my ram from 512meg to 3gig. (which is the maximum supported.) I did a lot of research, but i'm still not 100% convinced on what type of memory i could use to reach 3gig. here the link to my asus card: www.asus.com Asus card manual:(user guide): dlsvr01.asus.com And finaly the memory suggested on the web site crucial: www.crucial.com I would say my main problem is there is a restriction on my motherboard: 3 x DIMM, Max. 3 GB, DDR SDRAM ,Non-ECC, Memory (PC2100/PC1600 up to 3 DIMMs; PC3200/PC2700 up to 2 DIMMs; 1GB PC3200/2700 with 32 DDR chips up to 1 DIMM only) does it mean i could use 3 x (1gig Pc3200)? or 1 x (1gig Pc3200) + 2 x (1gig PC2100)? PC3200 is cheaper then PC2100 and PC1600 If anyone could tell me the different combo i could use (and avoid incompatibility) Thx alot! |

| 740080 | 2009-01-18 17:58:00 | According to the motherboard link you posted Memory 3 x DIMM, Max. 3 GB, DDR SDRAM ,Non-ECC, Memory (PC2100/PC1600 up to 3 DIMMs; PC3200/PC2700 up to 2 DIMMs; 1GB PC3200/2700 with 32 DDR chips up to 1 DIMM only)which to me means your motherboard will support 3GB of slower memory only. The next step down would be max speed DDR but only 2GB. |
