543139 2007-04-22 05:45:00 I have a very specific project which requires some ASP.NET 2.0 web hosting. Does anyone have any recommendations (i.e. companies that you have used, not just found on Google)? I'm looking for the cheapest possible, and it doesn't have to be in NZ. Unfortunately it will have to be with a proper hosting company, as the business nature of it means that I can't just get some hosting off someone on PF1.

Thanks in advance.

543140 2007-04-22 06:08:00 http://www.webdrive.co.nz/ - I have used & they are great (They do Windows ASP.NET 2.0 hosting as well as Linux hosting)

http://www.2day.com - NZ Windows hosting (they are not bad)

Hope this helps :)

543141 2007-04-22 09:09:00 Thanks Stu. Was hoping for cheaper, as performance and locality isn't a big issue. somebody (208)

Sorry about that, but I don’t know that many Windows hosts (I tend to stick with Linux hosts, as I find Windows servers, a bit like windows for home users :p)

Have a look at this:
www.spiritconnect.com.au

If this is a bit better let me know & I will do some more digging :)

From my experience, cheap hosting equals crap, with crap support to go with it. With hosting a large part of the money you pay is for support. If you want good support go for a NZ company as you get faster loading speed with nz based servers, and you are talking to NZers in your own timezone.

If it is a business website, what business can't afford only a $1 a day for web hosting?

I should have explained a bit clearer - its not actually for a business itself, but for something a particular business is involved with - kind of a long story. In terms of speed/support etc., I don't need anything better than if I was hosting a personal website, as it is for a non-critical application.

Thanks stu - will have a look into it.

543146 2007-04-24 04:49:00 Hey there,
www.net24.co.nz does Windows hosting for $24.95 a month for 25Mb... however, I am a reseller for them, and can get it for $16.95 a month if that helps...

If you are a reseller, wouldn't you then need to add on a margin to that price if you are going to resell it. 25MB is pretty tiny these days, most people are looking for at least 100MB of diskspace for that kind of price.

543148 2007-04-24 07:45:00 Just a follow up: The original plan has fallen through, so I no longer need the hosting. Thanks everyone for the suggestions. somebody (208)
