543926 2007-04-27 06:51:00 Hehe...Sky have an official reason for leaving Prime off the list but I suspect there may be a dash of sulky pants going on too. If I recall correctly that official reason has to do with their current re-broadcast rights for certain sporting events...like the Super 14.

Yep, it's to do with the sat signal being available to those oozies over the ditch... the fact they can see Prime if it's broadcast from the sat stuffs up Sky's contact for the footie. Sky have suggested that Prime will be available through the Freeview terrestrial service when it is up and going- because the signal can't reach rabbits ears over there.

Um, I'm not sure what all the fuss is about Freeview starting up- it's just a bunch of TV programs that we've all seen before, no need to get all excited kids :D

543927 2007-04-27 08:24:00 But it's digital, and it must be better quality

I've always wanted my favourite TV shows with added rain fade.

Actually its a CROCK! There is only 1 (2/halves) SKY T.P that can been seen in Australia due to it being on a dual beam. Prime isn't on this t.p.

There is a slight possibilty that they are referring to SKY being picked up on Norfolk Island. But really who cares if maybe a 200 people there can watch it. It didn't bother TVNZ when they were on the old B1.

543929 2007-04-27 22:31:00 Well, I'll go with the sulky pants theory then :p

There was a story in Aunty Herald this morning suggesting that there could be a lot more channels by this time next year... doesn't say if those channels will be available on the sat or only terrrestrial though.

543930 2007-04-28 10:52:00 Yes more fta is coming, but not in the way you might expect. Some of it will be coming off another satellite and will use a special antenna which will get the Optus D1 Freeview stuff as well.

Might be interesting to see what the other service offers? as the install price will be around $300 and that includes owning the decoder and access to some pay channels.

Well you could get a DVB-S card for your PC, and 2 DVB HDD recorders to replace the VCRs... Hook it all up with a splitter and off you go.

543932 2007-04-29 08:17:00 Great their web site says all NZ's can get Freeview, but according to their map only about 30% of the NI is covered and a miserable 10% of the Mainland::mad: Arnie (6624)
543933 2007-04-29 08:26:00 No Arnie the Map is for the DVB-T terrestrial service. That satellite coverage is %100. apsattv (7406)
