| 543243 | 2007-04-25 00:45:00 | Thanks for the reply all. The reason I had asked this question is because communications skills are increasingly emphasised and sought from pharmacists. As a result, it is important for health practitioners to be able to establish rapport and develop empathy with the clients, aside from providing competent health services to them. Since we are catering a diverse range of people out there, consequently it is rather important for me to understand how some people perceive certain social gestures. Based on what I have read so far from this thread, I suppose eye contact is an acceptable form of establishment of rapport amongst the Maori - and no, I don't think I would be dispensing medicine when they are in a challenge. :D Cheers :) |
