542523 2007-04-30 01:43:00 The whole driving thing is stupid. You should receive your full after 18 months od having your restricted and do a defensive driving course. You shouldn't have to do a stupid test and identify crap.... sounds like recent (bad) experience talking here... johcar (6283)
542524 2007-04-30 02:41:00 well i am thinking,if there are, say, 20 questions in the full licence test, and you need to get 80% right, then you'd need to get 16 questions right and you'd only be able to get 4 wrong. phew.

And there is 30 questions, you'd be able to get 6 wrong.

ANd if there is 50 questions, you'd be able to get 10 wrong.

man i feel good now that i know i can get a few questions wrong. i'd definetely get some detecting hazards wrong but i can do everything else.i should pass.

542525 2007-04-30 14:10:00 Depends on the type of things you get wrong, and who's your instructor.

Out Manukau in Auckland, they have a high fail rate than anywhere else in the country.

Had a mate go there. He was sitting waiting to turn right, giving way... somebody else gave him the signal that THEY would wait for him and waved him on in first.
He got failed because he went...

Then again, I have another friend of mine, she got 8 things wrong and STILL passed! Cant remember what those 8 things are thou sorry...

WHAT?

i know many people with restricted licences who never drive, i'm one of them (always ride). if i could be granted my full without having to prove i can actually drive THAT would be stupid. it would be like saying "well you passed 5th form, so just wait another year and we'll give you 6th and 7th, no obligation to attend classes"

imho it's people who can't identify hazards that are the most dangerous, followed by people with poor/little car control; both of which you must demonstrate competency in order to pass.

542527 2007-05-07 08:50:00 Nice thread =) I'm looking at getting my restricted soon, hope to book an appointment for later this month.

Just be sure to go over with your instructor a couple times before you sit the tests and simulate the test (in the testing area too if your instructor knows this - mine does, so I can get to know the road quite well^^). My instructor told me that naturally, our nerves will become pretty high in a test situation, so you should practice upto full competency, not just enough to pass - drive well enough/spot hazards etc. just as a full licensed driver would. That way even if you do stuff up a bit, it's not the end of the world.

Good luck.
