542474 2007-04-20 23:15:00 What appals me is the implication behind the original question, that being drunk in a public place, ('drunk in charge of a bench' :) ), is somehow an acceptably social thing to do - (.."he was doing no harm"...), and that it was the police who were the bad guys because they apprehended him.

It says a lot about the drinking culture of todays youth, they think it is great to get blind drunk.

As the world is grossly overpopulated, we could make a start on the problem by sweeping up such detritus and compacting them in the rubbish cart.

Because we live in a society where drugs like alcohol are OK to consume, we are going to have people with alcohol addictions, alcohol behaveral problems, sleeping in bus stops cause home is too far to go to, etc etc etc, and the cops are going to have to waste there time dealing with all this.... Such is life.

Mind you better than banning it, and having all of the above problems AND a black market in fermented food products!
