542427 2007-04-20 22:20:00 HA... back when the Holden-Graphic was around, there wasn't a lot of bass players who could afford anything much, and a 15" speaker was one of the few practical options. 2 was utter luxury.

These days of course most bass players are using 4 x 10" cabs, or similar, which of course is much more responsive than a 15" or 2.
Trace Elliot would have to be the first brand of commercially made bass instrument speakers pushing the idea of using 4 small speakers over the idea of 1 or 2 big floppy ones that i saw in this country... Bloody nice speakers they were/are.

I like 15's for subs. I run mine at 125hz and below, in W bins for larger gigs. 18's are popular, but i suppose that just comes down to plain economics of needing to fill a big room without spending far far too much. I personally own no 18's, and have no interest in ever getting any.

I hope CYaBro gets back soon, otherwise it's up to you and i SurferJoe46 to hijack this thread with further dribbling about our toys :p

I am right now in the pilot's cabin (hijacking reference) and . . . .

I Googled a few things . . . and one time I found out that I presently own more watts than the Beatles used in their Shea Stadium ( . tripod . com/~Calvin8tor/b/enter . jpg" target="_blank">members . tripod . com) show . . . many years ago .

Of course, they had Vox stacks ( . tripod . com/~Calvin8tor/fabs/shea1966 . jpg" target="_blank">members . tripod . com) . . and a Rickenbacker ( . tripod . com/~Calvin8tor/b/allshea . jpg" target="_blank">members . tripod . com) that could hit the back walls and shatter a glass at ½ volume .

BTW: I loved that Rickenbacker ( . tripod . com/~Calvin8tor/b/johnshea . jpg" target="_blank">members . tripod . com) . . . it has a unique "voice" that no amp can disguise . Some day I'll own one of them! Right now I am working on SRV sounds and some Johnny Lang licks .

Got the Carlos Santanna sound clicked in real good right now . . . easy to duplicate with the mids pumped 'way up and slow the attack down . . 'way down! Mild reverb and a little chorus thrown in . . very little chorus . NO flanger at all . .
