542181 2007-04-19 09:38:00 LOL, these are good.
I'll need to try some of these.

My brother asks if he can call the marketer when they are at home, when they say no they don't want that, he says "same here"

I've been black listing those that ring up. If I ever need to sell my house it's going to be hard to finding a real estate company not on my black list, LOL.

542182 2007-04-19 10:02:00 You know, I do feel sort of sorry for those poor telemarketers. They are, after all trying to make a living....by annoying people, yes...... qazwsxokmijn (102)
542183 2007-04-19 10:22:00 You may also be interested in the "Counterscript" (www.xs4all.nl)

Basically it tries to turn the tables against the telemarketer person.

542184 2007-04-19 10:22:00 Every time I hear "Is xxxx there?" or "May I speak to xxxx please?" I just tell them he's not home and they will hang up :D Eventually they will give up calling me coz I'm never home ... SKT174 (1319)

A friend of mine works as a telemarketer part time somewhere in Auckland. She earns about $20 per hour, regardless of whether she has managed to get hold of interested participants.

Cheers :)

542186 2007-04-19 12:22:00 haha, once i pretended to be interested and had a guy trying to sell me power (contact energy or someone) for about 10 minutes, the call ended when i told him i wasn't actually my dad motorbyclist (188)
542187 2007-04-19 22:48:00 Whilst it is really annoying for these phone spammers to keep ringing up all the time you have to remember that most of the people on the other end of the phone are just trying to make a living or supplement their income. Although some of them are really persistant most of them don't deserve the abuse they get so the best thing you can do is just be polite and give a firm "Not interested, thanks" before hanging up.

The persistant ones are a different kettle of fish. A couple of years ago I had one particular woman keep phoning day after day about goodness knows what and in the end I got so fed up with her that I just put the phone down on the bench and left her yapping to herself for ten minutes. She never rang back again after that. :D

Another trick you can try is to pretend you can't hear a thing they are saying and keep asking them to repeat everything. Works a treat.

542188 2007-04-19 23:38:00 Plainly my post above is invisible.

If you want these calls to stop, get your details on the number removal list.

It does work. Most callers do abide by the Marketing Association guidelines and therefore abide by the list.

You have now been added to the Name Removal Register . You should start to notice a reduction in the number of unsolicted mail and/or phone calls within a month .

Good things take time . ;)
