| 1435074 | 2017-05-09 20:45:00 | Hello I am sure this is a stupid question but.... My Windows 10 machine starts up with my desktop and task bar. To get the Start Menu and Tile Groups I have to click on the start button. Surely there is a way make the Start Menu and Tile come up by default when you start Windows? |

This is how its been for years ( W8 the exception) If you wanted a specific program(s) to load automatically when you start the computer and open EG:Email just add that program to the start menu. This explains how: tunecomp.net |

| 1435076 | 2017-05-09 22:44:00 | Surely there is a way make the Start Menu and Tile come up by default when you start Windows? There possibly is, but why not pin your frequent apps to the taskbar or create desktop shortcuts? Surely, its effectively the same thing? |

| 1435077 | 2017-05-09 23:12:00 | I already have lots of desktop shortcuts and a few folders. I was hoping to get away with not having too many of them, as sometimes when I have a semi crash I lose the positions they are all in. I thought that if they were all in the new metro tile groups, then maybe they would stay there forever! |

| 1435080 | 2017-05-10 00:51:00 | I think you can change the start menu in properties to use the windows 8 style start screen still winsupersite.com And then set windows to boot to it www.isunshare.com I'm not sure if that's any different to just setting tablet mode but I suspect it is because tablet mode also forces the new style apps to start fullscreen I think. This is mostly guesswork as I'm not currently near my windows 10 machines to test. But you can't boot to the desktop with the regular start menu open I believe, it is only a single button press away as someone mentioned though. |

That setting means you go to start full screen when you hit the windows key. Sorry. Edit2: Settings > system > tablet mode and select how you want to look on boot up. |

| 1435082 | 2017-05-11 09:12:00 | Thanks guys, some great replies. I don't want to use the full screen options as the Groups are far too large then. But I will look at Tablet mode, even though I'm on a desk top. It looks like to me that I will have to keep pr4ssing the Start Button. It may be only one click to you, but do that ten times a day, 3,650 times a year, and I may have to buy a new mouse, or get RSI in my right hand. Oh well. |
