I am using Windows 10, but using the Win 7 desktop style with shortcut icons all over the place.

I thought I should get with win10 properly and add all of my short cuts and programs such as Malware Bytes and Foobar and Firefox to a Windows 10 Group, (along with shortcuts to my most used files)

But for the life of me I cannot see how to do it.

I tried Google to no avail.

I have been able to remove a tile.

Am I missing something, or is it only possible to put metro apps onto a Group?

To create a new group just drag a tile into an empty area, and it'll sit on its own :)

1434941 2017-05-05 03:08:00 On all the systems here I have installed Classic Shell menu.

But that may have been what you already had.

1434942 2017-05-05 03:30:00 I only pin a few things to the start menu but you can group them as pcuser42 said, then right click an empty area to select name groups if you want to put titles on them.

I use a mixture of 3 different methods for shortcuts- a few I want easy access to I pin to the task bar, some that I use less frequently I pin to start, and large groups of shortcuts like my games I put in a folder on the desktop so it doesn't get too cluttered.
Everything else I just leave and access through the all apps menu when required

Classic Shell isn't using Windows 10 properly ;)

1434945 2017-05-05 09:27:00 Thanks guys
That gave me some ideas.

Yes I want to use Windows 10 properly.
I am not into shell add ons.

Now I know that you can only add items to groups that are on the Start Menu.

So I still need to have folders for my other shortcuts etc.

Someone should start a show us your Windows 10 (properly) desktop thread.

1434946 2017-05-05 21:07:00 Well since my dual desktop screens only have one shortcut (recycle bin) it would be a bit pointless, I have everything either on the taskbar or start menu that I use regularly gary67 (56)
1434947 2017-05-05 23:27:00 You can Pin File Explorer to the Start Menu in Windows 10 by right clicking the File Explorer Icon down the left hand side.
You can then move it round to where you want it even creating a new group.
You can then Pin the Desktop to the Start Menu and arrange as required or any other folder in the File Explorer

Not that I use Windows 10 format, I prefer Classic Start Menu
