1434902 2017-05-04 00:30:00 My desktop PC is randomly shutting down and restarting, I've looked up the event viewer and it states ESRV_SVC_WILLAMETTE as the error whatever that is, also kernel power failure but unsure on how to pinpoint the problem, the PC is getting old now like 6 years or so but have replaced the graphics card a couple of years ago , any help would be appreciated PeterQ (16315)
1434903 2017-05-04 00:41:00 ESRV_SVC_WILLAMETTE is part Intel software. WHAT it is Here (www.systemlookup.com)

See if you can disable it in task manager / Startup.

1434904 2017-05-04 00:52:00 It already has stopped in task manager PeterQ (16315)
1434905 2017-05-04 00:56:00 Maybe it fixed itself, will keep you informed, thanks PeterQ (16315)
1434906 2017-05-04 01:37:00 Had problems some time ago turned out to be an over heating problem. Cleaned all the dust etc out then put a small fan pointing to the back of the computer, fixed it. for another 18 months until it crapped out completely. Arnie (6624)
1434907 2017-05-04 01:59:00 Event viewer is probably just reporting unexpected shut downs.

Need more info to trouble shoot without seeing it.
After how long? After doing what with it?
How often?

MOre than likely it's a power issue.

1434908 2017-05-04 02:00:00 It must of worked for whatever reason because it hasn't shut down again although I uninstalled The Intel Toolbox by chance at the time whether that had something to do with it I don't know, Thanks for your replies PeterQ (16315)
1434909 2017-05-04 02:04:00 If its doing hardware restarts (ie just restarting, NOT shutting down & rebooting) , there wont be any usefull info in event logs , as win has to be running to log events

usually a hardware issue : power supply, motherboard, vid card , ram etc etc .
Start swapping out the easy stuff ,power supply, ram , vid card

does it do a full restart , ie POST etc, or does just win restart (software restart only)

1434910 2017-05-04 02:28:00 Seems to be OK now , it was doing a full restart PeterQ (16315)
1434911 2017-05-04 03:49:00 Chances are the issue will come back . But you cant really diag intermittent hardware issues while its working properly anyway :-)

make sure you have a good backup, just in case .
