1434588 2017-04-26 03:21:00 We will be away 31.05.17 for 6 weeks contacted Trustpower to restrict my current fibre as I don't see the point of paying $150 for 6 weeks that won't be used. They informed me they don't offer this service, so it seems you have to terminate the contract. I restricted my service in 2007 when we were with Slingshot.
So will probably just keep our electric which we currently have with Trustpower just to keep timer lights on whilst away security!
Then change over to another supplier for power, phone and fibre just to see if we can get a better deal currently paying about $250 per month for everything (2 pensioners)
Would appreciate some alternatives you have or currently use?

1434589 2017-04-26 03:25:00 That's $250 with power? Seems pretty good. I personally wouldn't touch trustpower at all, but I doubt you'd be able to save much from changing to other companies. wratterus (105)
1434590 2017-04-26 03:53:00 I would check your power using www.powerswitch.org.nz
Trustpower are pretty expensive.

Flip (who is owned by Slingshot) are probably the cheapest for broadband and landline. Or Broadband and no landline, whatever you have....

1434591 2017-04-27 09:07:00 Trustpower are a greedy money making machine - I have seen their call centres.

I would never use Trustpower or Spark

1434592 2017-05-03 22:29:00 So I will end my broadband with Trustpower end of the month, and find a new provider in July. Seeing as I currently have my phone bundled with Trustpower my landline will go until I renew with An Other.
Can't go back to Telecom landline as the copper connection is gone since getting fibre any suggestions?

1434593 2017-05-03 23:29:00 I'm with Bigpipe for internet, and 2talk for phone. Works really well - unlimited internet and tons of calling for like $92 a month. No contracts on either. wratterus (105)

1434595 2017-05-04 23:40:00 Flick Electric are *amazing*, and insanely well priced too. I've never had such good service from a company, as I have with Flick, highly recommend them!

TrustPower are terrible for their internet, highly oversubscribed and although their plans look cheap, it's usually only for the first 6 months their bait you into out of a 24-month contract :(

Last point of note: Chorus will still charge Trustpower $X a month for your UFB connection, so they can't just "put it on hold" unfortunately.

Yes, pity they only have direct debit or credit card as payment though.

I pay my power in advance by direct credit, rounded up, as an average amount. Rather than have low payment, high payment summer/winter.
I do build up a bit of credit but suits me, last payment actually I only needed to give them $10 because of that.

I have asked Flick if I could pay this way but no......
