1434490 2017-04-23 21:56:00 Hi All Some time ago All py photos/pictures were stored in My pictures/Pictures. Along came another piece of software called Photos. In Prroperties it says MS Windows photos.Ink

I cannot use this program as I used "Pictures". How can I get rid of Photos without losing all my Pics. Thanks. PJ

1434491 2017-04-24 20:38:00 I'm too lazy to properly investigate your issue, but first thing I'd do is to copy all the images to another folder (make a new one if required), then if they're valuable burn them to a disk. Greg (193)

1434493 2017-04-26 04:35:00 I am still struggling with this problem I have tried the link above & have googled the problem as well
It seems as if a foray into the registry is reqd. Given my propensity to make good into bad I would rather not try

The data from google suggests that there are files missing from Photoos, Editing for instance.

Should I download another Viewer & editor etc & try to move all phos across. If Photos will allow me? PJ

1434494 2017-04-26 04:54:00 I thought about Picasa but see that it is now defunct. It is now Google Pictures. Any pros & cons about Google Pics? PJ Poppa John (284)

You don't need to actually go into the reg yourself. Its very easy.

As per the site above linked, download the zipped file Direct Download HERE (www.howtogeek.com), save it, right click and extract. You'll then have two reg files, simply double click the Activate Windows Photo Viewer - then click YES twice, and OK- That's it - DONE.

Now as per the article, right click a picture - open with ---follow the instruction on the linked site. Now all your pictures will open in the old Windows Photo Viewer. :)

OK I have got as far as the "Activate & deactivate" window & followed thro the Activate. What happens next?
The Step 2 part confuses me.

I am not the PJ that I was 10 years ago. Please bear with me. Thanks. PJ

1434497 2017-04-27 00:04:00 right click a picture

open with ---follow the instruction on the linked site. Now all your pictures will open in the old Windows Photo Viewer.
-------------------------------------------

When you right click - you get a choice. Select OPEN WITH.

Then it brings up a screen with choices of programs available on your PC.

The idea is to locate and choose Photo Viewer (or whatever program you want it to default to) you see.

You select that, tick ALWAYS USE THIS so it then makes it the default program.

1434498 2017-04-27 04:47:00 Hi Lass
If I open photos & click on a picture, I get this dropdown
Share-Add to Album-Slideshow-Copy-Delete. That's all. PJ

Silly me. I have to open a picture fullscreen to get the dropdown you are referring to. When I do I get 2 choice in open with....Movie maker or Paint. Does this sound right? So can I put "My Pictures" on there as a third alternative? PJ
