1433791 2017-04-04 08:49:00 Ok so theres been a little bit of rain recently................... wanganui has declared a state of emergency and My work is closed tomorow ................so has all the local schools and other Early childhood centres...........MOE are on to it this time !

And I really didnt think it had been that bad................ not much wind, just a wee lot of rain.
Whangehu and Waitotara having the usual dramas with water too.........:o last bad lot was 2015............... so their prediction of Hundred year occurances and floods is a little off I think............

Hows things at yours?

1433792 2017-04-04 09:42:00 I'm on flood watch again . Got flooded a few weeks back (yay - go New Lynn!). My internal access garage was just over a foot under silty water last time. Luckily the house living area is half a meter higher on poles from the garage slab level so was saved by about 20 cm from being washed out too.

The good news is the garage is mostly empty with the gib lining already off the walls. Bad news, I only finished re-painting the garage floor yesterday and it still isn't 100% dry. I'm going to be extremely snotted if it gets covered in silt again.

Hope you all are OK. :)

1433794 2017-04-04 10:14:00 Where we are -- Actually nothing out of the normal. The so called "Strong winds and rain" ---Boringggggg :sleep

While it hasn't exactly been nice summers days all the time, nothing really to complain about. looking at the News reports, further up north is getting all the bad stuff.
Often when news reports saying Auckland areas are flooding, we are outside doing outside stuff, no rain , maybe some high cloud, and any wet weather is hardly worth mentioning,More just enough to be annoying.

Closest thing I had to flooding is when a water pipe in the neighbors place burst a couple of weeks ago and a small section of back lawn was too soggy to mow. :)

Yesterday, was meant to be "light rain" Pffttttt apart from about an hour, maybe two total, it was nothing but a few drizzly showers.

1433795 2017-04-04 10:27:00 I hesitate to say this - but in the south, we have had a very nice sunny day... The morning was a touch cool though - very close to a frost. So - we're ok.:) R.M. (561)
1433796 2017-04-04 10:53:00 Nothing here today just a shower this morning. Its meant to all happen tomorrow gary67 (56)
1433797 2017-04-04 12:00:00 It's saturated in South Auckland. Nothing out of the ordinary aside from some large puddles on the road though. pcuser42 (130)
1433798 2017-04-04 19:27:00 Rain arrived aout 5 this morning not too bad at the moment but strong winds are also forecast up to 120kmh gary67 (56)
1433799 2017-04-04 21:00:00 Your place OK Beetle?
I see they were saying mostly East Wanganui?

Here in Ranui, it rained, but nothing spectacular. It never is here. enough to stop the gate dramas for a while though.

1433800 2017-04-04 21:54:00 Yeap Im all good, Im in the cliff so we have sand, so drains good, the only issue I have is the cobbles dont drain so well and the rain is driving in the back of the house making it a wet trip to the sleep out and wash house. so am planning a trip to go get some tarps to put up for a bit weather proofing. may have to look at covering the verandah in at some stage, cos winter is a regular back door knocker.

My work has shut, as has all local schools and Early childhood centres.
the local Mall is even shut as it got a bit flooded last time.

currently a lot of people have packed up homes and emptied houses, and some shops on the local quay.

so far the flooding has not been as bad as thought, but its this afternoon is when they expect the rain to impact on the river. expected to hit 19.4 m at pipiriki........ last flood in 2015 only hit 15m so they jumped ahead on this one.

the rain here has been steady but not heavy yet, a bit of fluffy wind but not as bad as I thought it was supposed to be.

so I get a day off, a lot of wanganui gets a day off, but theres a lot of people working hard to keep safe, move and just go about normal lives here at the moment.
tis a bit cold here tho.
