| 1433559 | 2017-03-30 06:14:00 | Today I built a gate. It's a fence panel but the only difference I could see is you got hinges etc with an actual gate panel, and it cost heaps more. We are attaching it to wood posts and adding a spring wheel. Husband helped a bit, mostly stood there telling me I was doing it wrong, I needed to do X first, Y wouldn't work etc. But it was pretty much like those assemble yourself furnitures, except the bits just slot in.....Needed help to hit the post in at the end, to make it tight. I love it, lighter than wood, easier to lift, don't know how long it will last really, but wood rots so baring concrete or stone, I think it's a good idea. It's PVC. |

| 1433562 | 2017-03-30 20:00:00 | A good wooden fence doesn't rot that fast, built mine (well Dad did most of it) in 1999 and it's still in good shape mostly (I may have backed a trailer through it once). A bigger problem is sometimes the rails warp. Still I like the Idea of a light PVC fence, can't imagine why the gate would cost much extra though. Unless there's extra reinforcing or bracing that's not visible. My wooden gate needed bracing. | dugimodo (138) | ||

I thought it was cool, plastic and slotting together. .... Reasonably heavy, but if it was wood, I'd hate to do it myself, it would weigh a ton. This I can move.... |

| 1433564 | 2017-03-31 03:02:00 | I do some volunteer driving and a few weeks ago I took a group of olds from Papakura down to the Ngatea Water Gardens, first time I had been there myself. My favourite fun bit was this olde wooden farm gate, complete with a sign asking visitors to keep the gate closed so the sheep don't get out. 7983 There are some sheep in the background, so it must work. :) |

Should last at least as long as your PVC roof spouting & downpies. ie a very long time :) And wont need painting Neighbour used that white PVC stuff for a boarder fence around his section. It looks really nice , and for some reason doesnt seem to get dirty or mouldy. Still nice and white & clean after 3 years (he's never had to clean it) |

| 1433568 | 2017-04-04 04:28:00 | I now hate the bloody gate. We've been trying to attach hinges and it's wheel and stuff and get it up. What a PITA. We had to insert some 2x4 cause being hollow plastic......not a simple matter because of the way it fits together, and our uselessness as builders. So far as of right now, we have 2 bits of wood in, and one set of hinges on gate side. Miles to go. Sick of dragging it up and down, holding it, measuring etc. So is husband. He is contemplating divorce. |
