IanhNZ seems to have dropped off the radar. Just did one yesterday, clean install, W10 creators edition W8.1 Key, activated right away.

1434343 2017-04-19 04:53:00 Thanks guys for info. Good link, thanks, Lawrence.

Friend has just bought an ex-lease comp with W7 plus Office installed. Will give an in-place upgrade a go (after taking an image, of course). It will just refuse to upgrade if MS doesn't allow it so pretty safe I guess.

Yes, hope Ian is OK.

1434344 2017-04-19 05:30:00 Do you have the Office disk? Installing 10 might? require Office to be reinstalled---just a thought. Bryan (147)

That shouldn't be an issue, I've done a few in place upgrades with office and various other software installed with no hassles at all.

Having said that taking a pre-upgrade image isn't a terrible idea just to ensure you can recover back to a system that still works.

Going to give an upgrade a go later today from Win 7 Pro to Win 10 Pro and see if it activates...

I need to upgrade Mrs Chief's HP lappy... she has some software installed which I don't have the the original installers for (stuck on the NAS which I left back in Auckland) so I will need to make sure I keep all that in place for her.

Creators update seems fine to me though most of the "new features" are not things which appeal to me so I'm not a fan nor a fiend for it.

Cheers,

.

If its an old version of Office, Win10 will remove it. :badpc:
Then remove it again on each major Win Update (ie when 10 ugs to new build version)

1434348 2017-04-19 22:43:00 Depends on how old. Office 2010 and onward seems to hang in there, but Outlook can sometimes cause problems with the older versions.

You can always download it again as long as a person has the product key From MS's site.

I know 2003 now gets automaticly removed . Not sure if it can be re-installed (didnt try) . Yes, people still want to use it on Win10
2007 ??: as its no longer Win10 certified , maybee thats next on list list to get auto removed
