1434055 2017-04-11 23:11:00 Looks nice and I guess in the long run it depends on what you are going to use it for ie off road, through water fords and a hard life etc, then you might get rust etc. Bryan (147)

I don't plan on doing any real off roading in it, so more just checking it's in good condition before I think about making an offer. Nick G (16709)
1434057 2017-04-13 10:36:00 I know Toyota had some dodgey diesel motors in the past( you can look them up) otherwise go for the best you can afford, they are built to last. Laggard (17509)
1434058 2017-04-13 20:34:00 touch.trademe.co.nz - this is the one I'm looking at.

Looks alright based on pics and what they say.
But of course, taking a knowledgable person to check is the way to go.

Professionals? AA was on Fair Go a lot ages ago with the bad checks, I'd trust a known mechanic far more.

If you know someone that is...............

1434059 2017-04-14 01:27:00 Took it for a drive today and had a good look at it - started up nicely from a cold start, ran well.

Couple of chips/small cracks in the windscreen which weren't a WOF issue, but I might get filled in anyway.
Other than that, the only thing it really needs is a good clean!

Found a nice gravel unsealed road and chucked it into 4hi and 4low, engaged and disengaged nicely. Brakes were good, steering was good, didn't pull to one side.
Was pretty happy with it, although I'd probably be safe and give it an oil change and maybe a transmission flush at the start.

Will definitely get it looked at first, although I'd say it's in good structural condition from what I saw.

Gary67 - do you know what sort of fuel economy they get?
