| 1485148 | 2022-03-27 00:16:00 | Mental state of New Zealanders. It has been said by a prominent psychiatrist that the mental state of young New Zealanders is not good, the Covid-19 pandemic is being blamed for this. The Students are blaming stress caused by lock-downs etc for their poor performance at University. This, of course is utter nonsense because they have more uninterrupted time to study. True, they have less opportunity to be hooligans which is their normal pastime. The group that are really victims of stress are young adults with children, a mortgage, and uncertain employment. I think that the young people who claim to be stressed should think of the young of Ukraine, being bombed, shot at, have no food or water, and an apartment that is now a pile of rubble. Do they complain that they are stressed? No, they are busy trying to stay alive. I suggest that young New Zealanders pull their socks up, and get on with it. |

| 1485150 | 2022-03-27 01:13:00 | I suggest that young New Zealanders ‘pull their socks up’, and get on with it. I am sick of listening to people whinging they have 'mental health issues'. It's an insult to those that actually do. 'Mental health' has become a Get Out of Jail Free card to abrogate personal responsibility. Youth have been clever enough to jump on that band-wagon, much like Maori have learned over time to play the race card. All self-serving and frankly pathetic, however also pretty effective, 'specially with the pollies. |

And my granddaughter decided she was "anxious", this is actually normal stuff, not liking being in front of large audiences and such, but it's a bit of a thing...they all talk about anxiety on social media and it's a bit...trendy isn't quite the word, but a contagion? I explained the difference, whether it helped or not I don't know. |

| 1485152 | 2022-03-27 06:26:00 | We have had real easy compared with our forbears any mental health issues we have now are first world problems. My grandmother was made an orphan by the 1918 flu epidemic. *** they were 9000 dead out of a population of around a million. That following most families losing someone close in WW1. There is less pressure on young people now than there is ever was. I am getting mighty pissed of with serial complainers pulling the mental health card when there are people who really are mentally ill. Its the less stressful period in New Zealand's history and we still get fwit talking mental health days. I am not bagging people with real mental health issues just people that cant handle a little stress. |

I remember the very real possibility that the world could go into a Nuclear WW3 , if even by accident (nearly happened a few times by accident) Being told what would happen if a nuke was dropped on Ak. The difference back then was we all got on with our lives and didnt make excuses Covid. Pfft. Try dealing with polio , smallpox, TB . |

Try Nordmeyer's black budget coming within days of buying my first car. Still, that budget was a holiday compared with Holyoake The Thick, and later, mulDOOM The Tiddly. They were the ones who turned the depression into The Good Old Days. ;) |
