1484794 2022-03-08 19:57:00 Watching videos on the TV rather than the laptop is much more preferable but although I don't have too many problems, I have difficulty casting Pommie programmes.

I have given up trying as the video often stutters, pauses and sometimes stops altogether for a few seconds or so, so I just watch them on the laptop which is nowhere as good.

I wonder if anyone else has had this problem and could perhaps tell me what can be done about it.

Your help is appreciated. :thanks

1484795 2022-03-08 23:29:00 Pommie programs from where? Bit of a lack of information here.

From bbc/itv etc? Do you have a smart dns service and are trying to use a chromecast? If so then I think I know your problem, as a chromecast as a hard coded DNS to google....it's ignores your routers dns, so a smart dns service will not work unless you block the google dns server.

1484797 2022-03-09 04:56:00 Can you just plug the laptop into an HDMI port on the TV with a cable? A bit more hassle than casting but more reliable. dugimodo (138)
1484798 2022-03-11 21:12:00 They are possibly in a video format/bitrate that your Chromecast doesn't have enough processing power to decode in real-time.

For example, a lot of older devices have H.264 decoding built into the hardware, but throw the newer H.265 at them, and they choke.

Nice idea, unfortunately the TV is up the wall not far off the ceiling and a cord would not reach. But thank you for your suggestion.

I got a 10Mtr HDMI cable here that once had to use when the original Vodafone Box went awol, and connected it to the other in the Back Lounge.

1484801 2022-03-13 01:06:00 Yeah, just get a longer cable...!!

But if it's quite long I'd advise that you get a good quality one, I've had problems using cheap ones over long distance with some T.V. sets.
