1484359 2022-02-18 03:27:00 Could some one explain would volte work for me, silly question could it replace my landline.

Just getting fed up with these random calls about 6.pm no one there, I think people have posted before about ditching their landlines.

1484360 2022-02-18 07:44:00 Phone calls have up until recently still used the old 3G or even 2G networks with the newer 4G and 5G networks just being used for data.
VOLTE is just the name used for the new standard for phone calls over 4G or 5G.

It's still just cellular which can already replace your landline if you want it to, you can get a cellular modem for your home that can connect to landline handsets from vodafone and spark and probably the other providers too.
You can also get VOIP based landlines over any broadband connection where the landline connects to your modem, some of these offer very competitive pricing.

A lot of landlines are actually already using VOIP from the local cabinet or exchange as the phone network is migrating onto the broadband network so although you still have a landline it might not work like it used to (irrelevant perhaps)

The main reason landlines suffer from unwanted calls is because the numbers are advertised in the phonebook and because of free local calling. An unlisted number can get rid of a lot of it.

Personally I ditched my landline after my mother died in 2008 and haven't missed it at all, my cellphone is all I need. She was the last person I knew who refused to own or ring a mobile phone. I know not everyone likes cellphones though.

1484361 2022-02-23 19:23:00 I wouldn't want my landline running over any mobile network. Too unreliable. Even a noisy trash copper line will work if you shout. A cellphone just drops the connection entirely, or fails to connect in the first place. They're only good as a backup. Agent_24 (57)

Pretty common for those that have wireless internet routers at home.

Stick around for a few more years and you will not have a choice. Traditional copper phone lines are on the way out and will disappear as more up to date technologies replace them.
