1483678 2022-01-17 23:01:00 My good old MS Keyboard, a basic USB Keyboard is developing some problem:

Intermittently, my Win 11 doesn't detect it at startup. I need to pull out the USB connector and re-plug it to the same USB port or to another port.
I have swapped to different ports but Win 11 still fails to detect it intermittently at STARTUP, yes, only at startup.

I works perfectly OK once connected at startup.

This Keyboard is about at least 5 years old.

Do I need a new Keyboard? Or, it's Windows 11 issue? I just 'upgraded' to Win11 recently, in mid November, 2021. It was working OK before I upgraded to Win 11.

seems like a W11 issue, could be a co-incidence though

Unfortunately, you'll need another kb to test with .

1483680 2022-01-18 00:51:00 Swap it into another usb port on the same computer, see if that helps. zqwerty (97)
1483681 2022-01-18 01:13:00 Done that as mentioned above. bk T (215)
1483682 2022-01-18 01:29:00 When its working is there any indication its got power, for example the Basic USB Microsoft I have here above the numeric pad #1 if you press Num Lock it goes on or off.

Then assuming there is some indication is the same light on/off when not working.

Also make sure you are using a USB 2 Port, some systems dont like USB 3 ( blue)

1483683 2022-01-18 01:41:00 Sorry didn't register that, dirty connections or broken intermittent wiring if you move it round a lot, if broken wiring then it will be at the point where the wiring goes into the usb plug reinforcing ferrule. With a bit of ingenuity you can repair this fault of broken wires if that's what it is, done it many times myself on various jobs on mouse and keyboards.

Have to try another keyboard I guess to be sure it's the O/S or not as mentioned above.

1483684 2022-01-18 01:51:00 The indicator lights for the number lock and Caps Lock are all working OK when it's working .. Will have to test it when it fails, but am quite sure the number lock light was ON ..

It was plugged into USB3 (blue) port since Win10 time and I changed to USB2 (black) when it failed the 2nd time (few days later).

I have swapped to different ports in the past 2 weeks.
