1485890 2022-05-01 06:50:00 Just got home tonight to be told by a relative of my next door neighbor Kathy, that she has died a few days ago..

I asked what of and he said fluid around the heart. She was ninety and until recently in good health, she was still cycling on a bicycle to go shopping. The family members have all had Covid in the last month that they caught from their schoolkids. She had been visiting them on and off over the last few months.

Draw your own conclusions.

CliveM you seem to have no appreciation of subtlety in meaning and understanding and only seem to take words at face value.

Obviously older people die more than younger people but that is not what is being said.

As Covid spreads amongst the community even those who have been taking greater care because of vulnerability to the disease for whatever reason will eventually be infected and as a result of lessening of efficacy of vaccine over time and other prevention methods to stop or minimize the illness many more will die who wouldn't normally if the disease wasn't in the community or if more care was being taken to minimize the transmission.

1485891 2022-05-01 07:33:00 My understanding is that Pfizer and the Government both knew that the vaccine was only to reduce hospitalizations - but neither told the public.

Remember back in the early days when Boris stood at his dais with a slogan "Protect the NHS" ? I guess somebody knew what the real target was all along.

I suspect you are absolutely right decibel, in which case it was never a vaccine, which raises my question as to why it was ever promoted as one?

We are being screwed every which way by this Government. :groan:

1485892 2022-05-01 22:19:00 Yes but look at the excess deaths. 500 more than the same time last year over the same period.

I guess some are just going to be considered expendable, ie anyone over 70 and the immune-compromised.

You can't cure death.
Like my husband, a minor cold would have killed him....didn't need Covid.

Yes some old people, vaccinated, might die anyway...and the unvaccinated.

1485893 2022-05-02 03:18:00 I wonder what sort of education you have to have to work out that old people die more than young ones.

You raise a point Clive, as whilst I took full maths at High School I find it no longer seems to apply.

Creative Accounting seems to be the new maths. :D

Here’s a proposition for you.

Google tells me the following.

“The current life expectancy for New Zealand in 2022 is 82.65 years, a 0.18% increase from 2021. The life expectancy for New Zealand in 2021 was 82.50 years, a 0.18% increase from 2020. The life expectancy for New Zealand in 2020 was 82.36 years, a 0.18% increase from 2019.”

Ok, so I propose that you’re not old until after you are 82 and before that you are young. :)

This begs the question as to how many died after they were 82 and how many died before?

I think the Young buggers are screwing the Old buggers statistics. :D
