1485713 2022-04-22 04:31:00 those liners' are 7 decks high and they have passenger loads up to and probably over 5,000 polluting bodies on board.

But wouldn’t those 5000 polluting bodies be 5000 polluting bodies regardless of where they were?

Or are you suggesting that these passengers are producing more greenhouse gases thanks to the fodder from the galley.

If the latter is the case, we will have to introduce a “Flatulence Tax” to go with our “Nautical Orange Cones”. ;)

1485715 2022-04-23 20:49:00 Almost back to normal now, haven't you noticed the airplanes flying overhead!.

Are you an ignorant Yankee? What other reason would account for "airplanes"? :groan:

If you were a Kiwi you would know that "aeroplanes" is the correct English.

No, Ken. Not a hatred of Americans. I am not so much anti American as pro Kiwi. I see no reason why we should adopt American English when we have our own correct version of the English languague. I was brought up with the Queen's English and am a stickler for correct English. The Americans bastardise English in their pronunciation and their spelling. Unfortunately there are the impressionable and ignorant among us who copy their ways. But why? What is wrong with Kiwi English? After all, it is our way, not someone elses. But these few just don't seem to have any pride in being a Kiwi. But I'm a New Zealander and have no inclination to copy anyone, particularly the Americans.

But a hatred of Americans? No. I have visited America a few times and have found the Yanks to be very nice and very welcoming and they LOVE our accent. I'm just not a fan of their version of the English languague or their way of life, particularly with all those guns.

I have lived the majority of my life (late 70s) in New Zealand and am very happy with our unique accent and way of life and see no reason why we should copy the Yanks or anyone else.

So no, Ken. I don't have a hatred of Americans - I have a love of New Zealand and our own very special way of life and want to see it kept that way. I do not want to see it become a small version of a very sick way of American life.:waughh:

Nothing is wrong with it but it doesn't mean you need to crucify people who spell something different or the American way.

Like Ken said, you are very nasty about it. You might not see it but that's certainly the impression I get. There's no need to treat people that way online or in real life.

Most of my rellies' migrated to USA, except one silly bu**ger, thought NZ might be better.

Don't think you will persuade me, to not use whatever terms I may choose. It's still a free country, for awhile yet.

Are you not a Kiwi? Where do you hail from then?

Definitely a Kiwi. I was brought up in Wellington, spent some time in the south island then came to Auckland.

When I said "most of my life" I was referring to 18 months spent in NSW.

And when I said late 70s, I was referring to my age.
