1483713 2022-01-19 00:00:00 I am on Win (64( 10 v 21H2 fully updated.

Each day (say about 0915) when I first connect to Internet (MS Edge) I go to Settings -Update and Security.

a) Some days I get "you last updated at " which is -same time as this log on.

b) Other days I get "your system is update to date -last updated yesterday at xx Hours yy minutes

In the latter case click on "check for updates" and mostly there will be an update for Security Intelligence which I then download and install.

Why do I get the 2 different messages re update?

FYI I have not accepted the option "we notice you regularly use your computer between XX hours and YY hours. so will not install updates during these hours"

I posted this query on MS Community but got only 1 response - an illogical answer which proved that person had not read the full post as abpve

Can anyone explain the 2 different scenarios under a) and b)

thanks
Neil

1483714 2022-01-19 01:33:00 I posted this query on MS Community but got only 1 response - an illogical answer which proved that person had not read the full post as abpve Being on that forum its not uncommon BUT on saying that what / how you have described can be taken as two different things and not where they should be.

Meaning:
I first connect to Internet (MS Edge) I go to Settings -Update and Security. So which one is it ??? The update and security is accessed Via the Settings ( as mentioned.) NOT Via MS Edge. (thats how you have written it.)

The reason for two lots of updates.
1. There's windows updates (Update and Security)
2. Edge - Has its own updates.

Sometimes they update more than others, and not always at the same time usually independently from one another.

1483715 2022-01-19 03:14:00 in Win10 , If you click "check for updates".......

.......MS will happily send you untested beta/preview updates .

Updates will come down when the should.
Dont be in a big rush to get bug ridden updates, wait for others to test them

:-)

for example
A recent (past month) 10 & 11 update caused VPN issues for many people.
Dont rush it . Its not a race . Wait for updates to be fixed .

1483716 2022-01-19 23:46:00 to Wainui and 1101

Wainui I only use Settings- Update and Security -I do not check via Edge -it is my merely my preferred but not my only browser. I guess I should not have mentioned it.
FYI I had not mentioned Edge in my MS Community Post.

1101 I do not download the beta/preview updates (Optional ) -for the same reasons as you -I do not want to risk bugs.
