| 741141 | 2009-01-22 11:58:00 | i have recently been able to connect to my neighbors unsecure wireless network, i just use it to browse the net.. and occasionally download, Is this legal or can i get into trouble | justinitpractice (13286) | ||

No matter what you use it for, you should never use your neighbour's internet service without permission. It's like using his/her outside water tap without permission. |

| 741145 | 2009-01-22 19:15:00 | I allow my neighbor to use our internet as we have the 'pro' plan and dont use half our data cap, and my work pays for the plan. At Xmas, he brings over a couple of bottles of Gin...yay |

| 741146 | 2009-01-22 19:17:00 | It is unauthorised access to a computer network. It's illegal. If they left their house unlocked and went out, would you need to ask if it's ok to sneak in and make toll calls? What else do you need to know other than it isn't your connection? You aren't paying for it - so don't connect to it. |

That's not to imply your neighbour does anything illegal, but you know what I mean... |

Do you steal stuff from their graden, help yourself to petrol from their car? Same thing. |

At any rate, I think it will get reversed or amended, as lets face it, if people go WiFi jacking at hot spots, will ISP cut of businesses?, their is too much room for abuse by non resident parties that their will be an uproar.. Not that I DL heaps of music anyway...... |
