740825 2009-01-21 04:32:00 Hi all. I want a new gaming machine. I've checked out the computer from playtech. my one is broken by my 2 year old when i was fixing it by poking a screwdriver through it. Insurance is paying some of it and I have to top up the remaining. so here is the machine.

www.playtech.co.nz

I asked them to remove the hdd as I have 4 raptors to go in. Has anyone done anything on the new i7 920. I read on the web that they can push the 920 to 4GHZ no problem. I've asked playtech and they said a decent air cooler is better than the water system they have at the moment as they can't get the new i7 water coolers at the moment. I want to push the 920 to 4ghz if possible. so anyone with experiences on oc the i7 please feel free to give me some info on it and the above system as well.

Thats a nice machine.

740827 2009-01-21 05:25:00 You mean the PC in your sig?

I'm surprised your kid is not up for adoption!

And yeah, that system will kick some ass. I know people can get over 3.4GHz on TRUE120. Not sure about 4GHz.

740828 2009-01-21 05:30:00 yep. the pc in my sig is history. thats way you have insurance. If anyone who has an i7 920 can give me some light as to how they can push the machine to about 4GHZ. That would be a mean machine. cityhunter2000 (8700)
740829 2009-01-21 06:54:00 Goodness, that's one heck of a gaming machine! Renmoo (66)
740830 2009-01-21 07:39:00 I reckon a Skulltraill Mobo with two quads would be better.

Since you have not budget:p

Oh, and btw can I have your old pc parts:lol:

740831 2009-01-21 08:06:00 Well people spend money on cars and **** like that. I like computers and want a fast computer. I wanted 2 intel x25-m but I can't order them through amazon.com as they won't ship to NZ. Might have to ask my friend in the US to ship it here as a gift. 2 of those on raid 0 will have a read like 400mb compare to 70mb on a notmal 7200rpm hard drive. vista will startup like a snap then. We may have to wait for the end of this year to get our hands on these. Well, anyway thanks for all those interested in my old parts, they are toasted so SORRY. Anyone has a i7 920 that they have overclocked. give me some info please.

Thanks

There sure is, but that will be his next PC.

The Playtech one, theres 2 things I don't like at all.
One is the MSI motherboard - change it to Gigabyte or ASUS, and the second is the crap ripoff 1 year warranty.

+ 1

A pc for $3999 should have a 3 year warranty as a minimum, not a $99 add-on!

740834 2009-01-21 19:39:00 I dont mind the MSI boards, but as PCT said, 1 year warranty is a bit grim!

As for clocking i7 920, I am quite sure 4ghz is obtainable

This (anandtech.com)is on air @ 4.115ghz with an EVGA board....

Enjoy, you will have the fastest gaming system currently available with 1 CPU and 1 graphic's card.
