I was very sick and ended up in hospital... so any spiders I see are dead with in 10 sec of me seeing them :badpc::badpc: |

Maybe I have arachnophobia to a certain extent, but when I see a spider, it's as good as mushed. :D Still, I wouldn't like them to be extinct. They do, after all play a very major role in the food chain and ultimately the biology of our planet. I wonder how people like poor late Steve could love those buggers..... |

I photographed one looking at a picture of himself on the screen. Once I managed to get a somewhat larger than life -size image acting like a cursor, he raced about with great vigour trying to zap his image, I wondered how he/she managed to jump across a vertical screen. In the morning sunlight the screen was covered in interlacing web threads, poor little sod must have exhausted his bungy squirter. Later I used the magic cursor to lead it to pounce on a midge that he dessicated pretty thoroughly. If the prey doesn't move, the spider will walk right past it, even over it- but if it moves it is history. | R2x1 (4628) | ||

Since they don't brush between meals, and the "use-by" date is usually long overdue when the DO eat their meals, almost all bites can be infectious . I eat their salt water relatives . . Crabs (arachnids), lobsters (ocean-going cockroaches), abalone (gastropods-snails, slugs) etc . Somehow it makes me feel better to put the bite on them for a change . I've read about the bad spiders in NZ . . . the "Eye-eaters" that sling down from trees and ceilings at night and eat your eyes out; the "Navel-Witch" that seeks human belly buttons and nests in them, feeding their eggs on your intestines; the "Napenibbler" who resides in long hair, near the back of the neck and burrows into your neck and gets into the spinal cord and goes to your brain where it lays it's eggs . Don't even get me started about the "Spring snakes" and the "One Step" tree dwelling venomous ones you have there . |
