741191 2009-01-28 06:55:00 As I have mentioned, this bloke could be had up for fraud. How do I know this. Well I know of a 20 year old who went to his neighbors place and set up there dial up connection. In the process he got to know there password etc. Anyway he went back to his place and started useing there internet connection. The neighbor found that someone was useing his connection and tracked him down through his ISP. His ISP told him he could have this 20 year old up for fraud. It just so happened that the two neighbors were got friends and the 20 year old got off with a good talking too.

741192 2009-01-30 02:19:00 Be interesting when section 92a is brought into effect, when you get your internet shut down from something your neighbour does...

That's not to imply your neighbour does anything illegal, but you know what I mean...

Well, if that law really passes, broadband ISP's will lose over half of their existing incomes... What would you do with 10 GB data cap, if you can't download movies or "useful" software that cost $$$? I'd rather stick with dial up: $10/mth and unlimited data/time!

741193 2009-01-30 02:29:00 You'd be surprised how easy it is to go through 10GB .. we do ~35 a month at the moment.

YouTube chews through traffic, and I have sibblings from the age of 8 -> 18 who use it, not to mention my father uploads lots of home-made videos to his website.

That said it wouldnt surprise me if watching music videos off YouTube could get your connection cut-off.

741194 2009-01-30 02:43:00 I can understand how some people may not use a lot of data. For a person who does not have children and folks that don't host a website. We don't have pictures or videos to upload unless we been on holiday and even so we do it in small jpegs, and not sure about the videos given the slow upload speed unless we get fs/fs which the plan would cost more.

We just surf the net, text msn messenger, email and e-commerce, hardly utube and that is about it. I do maybe 2 or 3GB a month, at home 6pm-12am usually on a work day and in the w'ends rather be out.

Haven't got into streaming videos cos my place only gets 2mbit so we just watch sky or foreign sky channels. When I first got it, I admit I did do one movie and the time and expense was just not worth it. True most isps have it that you buy 10GB and if you don't use it up, it is not refundable. I am with Xnet so if we use 10GB we pay that and if the next month we use 2GB we just pay that. Just the time and expense - higher speed plan and more data - we just prefer to go to the movies or hire videos. Same for the game demo's when they are 1 or 2GB in size.

Half price new release movie hires are great at $4-5. Downloading would be $2 for the data and when the $$ more FS download plan. As a result we just get 2Mbit, we have downgraded to 256k. So it is like $2 plus potential $12 for the faster plan = $14.

But with the OP's question, as the law says, and as the terms of condition by the isp, break the law to any extent is just that. Law being pass? It has passed hasn't it, shortly it will be live. But despite the law due to the ToC by the ISP that holds anyway that you signed and agreed to when you joined. Ie, I shall not use the internet services for illegal activities.

741195 2009-01-30 02:53:00 Pretty much the same - using the telephone to organise buy/sell of narcotics.

Taking someone's cell and use it without their acknowlegement.
Go to someone else's home and do toll dialling without them knowing.
