I haven't experienced large (live) spiders and probably wouldn't be so blasé about them if I had. :p Must admit that I hadn't heard of this "Avondale" spider until now though and upon looking it up it appears that we have a similar version down this way, a Christchurch huntsman (www.tepapa.govt.nz). Good thing I don't live near the same area they do. :eek: |

I came across an Avondale once when I lived in Massey... he was so big I struggled to flush him down the outdoor drain with my hosepipe on full speed. My father worked in the entymology division of the old DSIR. I've had plenty of exposure to spiders, and other bugs. And it was probably a she. |
