741495 2009-01-24 02:26:00 Well since it is affected, its either the mobo or the hdd, or just the hdd.

Because what you're seeing / whats happening is what happens to the affected seagate hdd's

As it says in the link I posted

In some unique circumstances, the data on the hard drives may become inaccessible (<- this could be why youre getting that stop error, which is the inaccessible boot device BSOD), to the user when the host system is powered on

741496 2009-01-24 02:29:00 Disconnected hard drive and dvd drive, still not showing anything on screen(well sometimes it beeps and shows bios and stuff on screen)

Motherboard?
Blam (54)
741497 2009-01-24 02:46:00 Could well be the motherboard.

Speedy even if the HDD couldn't be detected due to drive failure the system should still post and then complain about no system boot device.

741498 2009-01-24 02:47:00 Maybe, but that BSOD is coming up for a reason

And I would say it has something to do with the hdd
Speedy Gonzales (78)
741499 2009-01-24 02:50:00 Agreed the BSOD is probably related to Blam changing the BIOS settings between AHCI and IDE.

But the system not posting at all occasionally is probably a different issue.

741500 2009-01-24 03:04:00 I'll reinstall Vista with AHCI and see what happens

I'll post back in about a few hours, going to have an ice cream and a rest.:p

741501 2009-01-24 03:05:00 I would say, its either still on AHCI (if it was on IDE when windows was installed).

And it was changed to AHCI after the install

Or its because of this firmware issue. BUT, you cant really update it, in case the firmware update kills it completely
Speedy Gonzales (78)
741502 2009-01-24 03:15:00 Yep, thats exactly what I did:p

I just learnt something today lol...

Lets see what happens after the reinstall:s
Blam (54)
741503 2009-01-24 03:26:00 Thats exactly what I did when I reinstalled windows on a laptop here.

I changed it to IDE (when I installed XP), then back to AHCI after. Bad idea :p

It did the same thing (it crashed)

And it will crash, because the SATA drivers havent been installed (which is what that stop error (inaccessible boot device, it can't find the hdd) is telling you)

So, I left it on IDE mode in the BIOS. It hasnt crashed since

And this is exactly what I said in post #4 :p

It sounds like you changed it to IDE, installed Windows, then changed it to AHCI mode? If this is the case, change it back to IDE mode.

741504 2009-01-24 03:48:00 Changed it back, now what?

Theirs still the POST and BIOS prob?
