544452	2007-04-26 19:22:00	I though F&P were an innovative company. I worked in Laundry division a while ago. Just in time for their 2nd round of redundancies. That was when they split the company into Appliances and Healthcare. I knew it was coming 6 months after I started. Most casualties didn't see it and were walking around shell shocked. They put off 2/3s of all except factory staff that time. Next: Dishwasher division in Mosgiel.	pctek (84)
544453	2007-04-26 21:01:00	In July this year I will be 65 and therefore eligible for a pension. National appears to want to raise the pension age. Cullen appears to have a very large Surplus. Who are going to vote for assuming you are old enough to vote? Who to vote? It's between the devil and the deep blue sea. I am already over 50. Still struggling to make ends meet. Will continue to work as long as I am fit so that many others could live. The government should look at the amount of wastage going on. It will probably save them hundreds of millions. Someone wrote in the press to question the goverment's website to help immigrants. It costs more than a million. The government's website is a simple few pages. This person's website, a gym, cost less than $10,000. This is just an example of waste. Another example. My friend had to attend a council meeting to cut off a tree so someone could lay a phone or power cable or something like that. The meeting took 40 minutes involves 4 parties, and heaps of paper work. The whole process toook 3 months or more. I have decided not to write anymore on this topic.	Taurus (9579)

Or does this all take place in some fantasy world where everyone just goes home if one side refuses to play war? On the contrary, You could have a fantastic war if one side refused to take part, It would be one sided, but lucritive. Isn't that how Hitler got his start? Pretty obvious there is a lot of ignorance about Switzerland, sad really in this day and age of the Internet, the Knowledge Economy, the Great OE, and Google . Take the last comment first, just look at a map of Europe, Germany to the north, Austria to the east, Italy to the south, and (occupied) France to the west . Just how anyone could think Switzerland could have been anything other than neutral is beyond belief . Whatever skullduggery Switzerland got up to with her banks, Jewish and German gold and trade with Germany during the war, return of Jews to Germany etc doesn't change that 'geopolitic' situation . For the record I seem to remember the Swiss shot down some Me109s that intruded into her airspace . For no one to associate precision with Switzerland is also beyond belief . They have been the worlds leading manufacturer of super high precision machine tools, measuring instruments and small parts, even if names like Reishauer, Tornos, Schaublin, SIP, Tesa, Goulder Mikron etc etc mean nothing I'd have thought the names Omega and Rolex would be known? Then there are the large organisations like Brown-Boveri, now Asea, and Sulzers . The world has beat a path to their door to buy such things, machine tools, power stations, cuckoo clocks :) (unlike New Zealand), even their cheeses and chocolates attract a premium . 544461	2007-04-27 10:18:00	Spent a few days in Malaysia coming back from India. That was illuminating. An educated skilled population with impressively engineered roads and buildings. And everything was half the price or less of NZ. I imagine Thailand is the same and Vietnam catching up. I arrived home in this beautiful country convinced that if you were a manufacturer, you'd have to move to Asia. I don't like seeing it happen but we have a high-wage economy compared to most of the world. Its just that we only compare ourselves with the rich nations and forget about the vast billions of people who live on very low incomes.	Winston001 (3612)
